Whoever said, "Everybody's Irish on Saint Patrick's Day," might have been at the Hagerstown home of Bob and Dolores Vidoni for a Saint Patrick's Day dinner, when just about the only thing Irish in the house is the corned beef and cabbage. There's also the Rev. Chris Moore, the only one of Irish heritage among the handful of guests at the yearly dinner party. Moore is a priest at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hagerstown. SHARPSBURG -- There was a loud bang and suddenly the calm night air at Antietam National Battlefield was filled with the screams of 60 "frightened" dinner guests - not to mention the occasional giggle. The screamers, following cues from their hosts, were participating in the latest fundraising event for United Way of Washington County, a sold-out murder mystery dinner party held Sunday night at the Mumma Barn. The $50-per-person event was organized to attract new, younger donors during a challenging fundraising campaign, said Leah Gayman, executive director of United Way of Washington County.

Review Ripping the plastic off of the cardboard that encased Ani DiFranco's new CD, "Reprieve," was just as satisfying as unwrapping any other. My first thought after hitting play was that this album is folksy, edgy, not unlike her other work, something you would hear in the background at a dinner party or in the soundtrack of an indie film. Moving on to the next song, I had a sudden thought. Hadn't I heard this song before? Not 30 seconds ago, in fact? The next few tracks are much the same.
