The First National Bank of Greencastle GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Kim Shockey, manager of the Waynesboro office of The First National Bank of Greencastle, recently was promoted to the position of regional manager. Shockey, of Waynesboro, Pa., will be responsible for the management of the Waynesboro and Quincy, Pa., offices in Pennsylvania, and the Eastern Boulevard and Maugans Avenue offices in Hagerstown. She will supervise and motivate staff to meet branch sales and service goals.

ThompsonGas recentlly announced the acquisition of a Virginia propane business that will increase its annual capacity by approximately 1.5 million gallons. The Hagerstown propane service provider purchased the assets of Campbell's Bottled Gas Inc. and Campbell EasiGas Inc. of Manassas, Va., the company said in a news release last week. It was the 26th acquisition by ThompsonGas since it was founded in 1946 in Boonsboro, the release said. The Campbell companies serve approximately 1,350 bulk customers with 2,000 propane cylinder racks dispensing 20-pound grill cylinders, President J. Randall Thompson said in a May 6 email.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- On the last major shopping day of the year, small-business owners in Chambersburg were pleased to end 2009 on a financial high note. While area unemployment remained high through 2009, the economy rebounded slightly from early record lows to months of profit for area small businesses. "Every month this year was up from last year," said Mark Miller, owner of Gypsie, an eclectic retail store on the square in Chambersburg. Spending has not necessarily increased, Miller said.

Derek J. Stoy, 27, of 5394 Forest Lane, is making his second run for the GOP nomination for treasurer. In 2001, Stoy placed third in the three-way primary race won by Chris A. Bender of Fayetteville, Pa., who also won the general election. "I'm just not happy with what's going on in the treasurer's office," Stoy said.

Business owners Barbara Tritle and Carolyn Bishop will continue to donate $5 from the sale of every such product to the Humane Society.
