WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The words "Indian pride" are painted in large block letters on the wall at the new Waynesboro High School gymnasium. But according to boys basketball coach Tom Hoffman, there was precious little of that on the hardwoods Monday night. "You can handle mistakes," said Hoffman after Waynesboro's 49-44 loss to Cumberland Valley, "but when there's a lack of pride and a lack of passion, there's not much to talk about. " Despite the lackluster effort, Waynesboro still had an opportunity to win the game.

Teen breast health workshop Y-ME of the Cumberland Valley offers a teen breast health workshop, which is available at no charge to interested youth groups. The program is presented by breast cancer survivor Kathy Brody. Information is presented without making girls feel uncomfortable. Many teens have had family experiences involving breast cancer or other forms of cancer and need information about prevention or early detection. Y-ME to be honored On Thursday, Oct. 9, Del. Louise V. Snodgrass, R-Frederick, Md., will present resolutions honoring Y-ME of the Cumberland Valley, the Hagerstown-based breast cancer support organization, and Joan Fell, its executive director. Y-ME is being recognized for its "dedication and service to the community in promoting breast cancer awareness and education.
