FANNETTSBURG, Pa. -- A Fulton County, Pa., man was charged Tuesday with criminal homicide in the death of a man struck by a pickup truck May 31 outside the Hillside Tavern, Pennsylvania State Police said. Gerald Buterbaugh, 41, of Hustontown, was being held in the Franklin County (Pa.) Jail Tuesday without bail, police and jail officials said. The victim, Dale Steven Henry, 32, of Burnt Cabins, Pa., was flown by helicopter to Altoona (Pa.) Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced brain dead later that day, police said in the affidavit of probable cause filed with the charge.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The preliminary hearing for a man charged with criminal homicide in the shooting death of his neighbor has been delayed. Washington Township, Pa., police charged Michael Harrigan, 29, after a shooting last Thursday morning on Blue Ridge Avenue near the Mason-Dixon Line in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa. Steven Wetzel, 47, was found dead in the road. Magisterial District Judge Larry Pentz on Tuesday continued Harrigan's hearing for two weeks to give him additional time to find a lawyer.

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. -- An apparent argument between neighbors in Washington Township, Pa., left one man dead from a gunshot wound and another man in jail early Thursday. Steven Wetzel, 47, was pronounced dead outside 13799 Blue Ridge Ave., at 2:06 a.m., township police said in a news release. Police charged Michael Peter Harrigan, 29, of that address, with criminal homicide. He was being held in Franklin County (Pa.) Jail without bail. "I still can't get my head around this," neighbor Megan Brown said.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- The arrest of Jeffrey E. Miles Sr. in April afforded Maryland State Police a fresh possibility in cases that have long been considered cold. After Miles was charged in the slaying of Kristy Dawn Hoke, investigator Rick Bachtell gathered the cold cases he's worked over the years for the Maryland State Police and presented them to Pennsylvania authorities. Sgt. Bachtell met with Pennsylvania State Police, who found Hoke's body in a wooded area in Waynesboro, to discuss several cases from Washington and Frederick counties.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- A preliminary hearing for a man charged in the death last week of a Hagerstown woman will be delayed as he undergoes a psychiatric evaluation. Franklin County (Pa.) Public Defender Michael Toms said he filed a petition Friday with the Clerk of Courts Office seeking a psychiatric examination of Jeffrey Eldon Miles Sr. of State Line, Pa. Miles, 47, is charged with criminal homicide in the slaying of 29-year-old Kristy Dawn Hoke of Hagerstown, whose body was found April 6 in a wooded area off East Ninth Street in Waynesboro.

WAYNESBORO, PA. -- The bright floral tribute stood on a vacant lot at the edge of a brambled wood. There was no name, no photos and no letters on the memorial to Kristy Dawn Hoke near the intersection of East Ninth Street and Clayton Avenue. Police found the body of the 29-year-old Hagerstown woman in that wooded area Tuesday morning. "Yeah, I read about that," John Kriner of Waynesboro said. "In fact, I live just a few blocks down from where that happened. " "It was unfortunate," Melissa March of Waynesboro said.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- A Fulton County, Pa., man has been charged with causing the death of a 2-year-old girl by grabbing and shaking her and dropping her in a bathtub, a criminal complaint says. Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release that Shane Douglas Pittman, 31, of 3026 Gem Bride Road, Needmore, Pa., was taking care of Kylie Marie York on Dec. 2 at a house trailer along Black Foot Drive in McConnellsburg. Pittman was charged with criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of a child.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- A Shippensburg man was charged Friday with criminal homicide in the Thursday night shooting death of his neighbor. Chad Kirby, 37, was being held without bond Friday, after the shooting in the 2300 block of Lindsay Lot Road in Southampton Township, Pennsylvania State Police said. Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey Conner pronounced Andy Santo Buttermore, 35, dead at the scene of the shooting at 7:57 p.m. Thursday Police said Buttermore was shot once with a 12-gauge shotgun.
