A Waynesboro man accused of fatally shooting his wife and two other people Friday in Quincy Township, Pa., is expected to return to Pennsylvania next week to face criminal homicide charges. Franklin County (Pa.) Sheriff Dane Anthony said two deputies will transport Kevin M. Cleeves, 35, from Mahoning County, Ohio, to the Franklin County Jail in a van early next week. He said all paperwork and authorizations are in place after Cleeves waived his right to fight extradition. Prosecutors said Cleeves will be arraigned soon after his arrival in Pennsylvania.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The preliminary hearing for a man charged with criminal homicide in the shooting death of his neighbor has been delayed. Washington Township, Pa., police charged Michael Harrigan, 29, after a shooting last Thursday morning on Blue Ridge Avenue near the Mason-Dixon Line in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa. Steven Wetzel, 47, was found dead in the road. Magisterial District Judge Larry Pentz on Tuesday continued Harrigan's hearing for two weeks to give him additional time to find a lawyer.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - September could be a busy month for homicide cases in Franklin County, Pa., Court. On Tuesday, the cases of three of four men charged with criminal homicide were scheduled for the September trial term, according to court records. A fourth man's double-homicide case earlier was scheduled for September. One of the cases dates back nearly two decades. Earlier this year, Michael Wayne McCormick Jr., 49, of Chambersburg, was charged by Pennsylvania State Police with criminal homicide in the March 28, 1979, death of Alan Bennett Cosey.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - It took 33 days for Jeffrey Wayne Clever to be charged, convicted and sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder, but it took 20 years for him to try to withdraw his guilty plea. [cont. from news page ] On Monday Clever, 39, was back in Franklin County Court seeking to withdraw the plea in the April 19, 1979, shooting death of his girlfriend, Cynthia Lea Wilson, 19, of Shippensburg, Pa. According to his petition for a post-conviction hearing, Clever did not "knowingly, intelligently or voluntarily" waive his right to counsel and enter the guilty plea.

Harshman was dismissed Wednesday, but he will wait a week to find out if a criminal homicide charge stemming from the 1985 disappearance of a Greencastle, Pa., man will be bound over for court. cont. from news page Harshman, 51, of 11807 Clearview Road, Hagerstown, has been held without bond since April 11, when Pennsylvania State Police charged him in the death of 42-year-old Melvin E. Snyder on May 25, 1985.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Greencastle, Pa., woman charged last week in the 1985 disappearance of her husband was released on $100,000 bond Thursday. Pennsylvania State Police charged Joan Snyder Hall, 56, of 12850 Grant Shook Road, with criminal homicide and criminal conspiracy in the May 25, 1985, disappearance of Melvin Snyder. Police also charged Ronald W. Harshman, 51, of Hagerstown. Melvin Snyder's body has never been found. "In all cases, a defendant is eligible for bail unless the charge is a capital crime or one punishable by life in prison," Franklin County Judge Douglas W. Herman said during Hall's Thursday bond hearing.

A Georgia woman apprehended late last year in connection to a 1995 shooting death in Franklin County, Pa., pleaded not guilty to criminal homicide Wednesday. Tonya N. Dice, 39, is charged with criminal homicide and hindering apprehension or prosecution. On July 14, 1999, former magisterial district judge Larry K. Meminger issued an arrest warrant for Dice based on the Pennsylvania State Police investigation into the 1995 shooting death of Freddie Brumfield in Greene Township. A bench warrant had already been issued for Dice after she failed to appear in court in July 1995 in an unrelated drug case.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The search continues for a Franklin County, Pa., woman charged with criminal homicide despite her case being profiled Saturday on "America's Most Wanted. " "We did get some calls on her, but she hasn't been captured as far as we know," a staffer for the Fox Network show said Sunday night about Tonya Nicole Dice. She has been charged by Pennsylvania State Police with criminal homicide and hindering prosecution in the Jan. 13, 1995, murder of Freddie Wate Brumfield.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A bail hearing for a Chambersburg man charged with criminal homicide was continued Monday when the prosecution was unable to introduce testimony about a fight last week at Franklin County Prison. Timothy R. Ross, 26, of 280 Miller St., was jailed March 2 when he was charged with the March 1 shooting death of Drake Luckett, 34, of 217 Linden Ave., at a Chambersburg bar. Attorneys David R. Yoder and Thomas S. Diehl introduced a consolidated motion to reinstate bail on an unrelated cocaine delivery charge and set bail on the criminal homicide charge.

Paul Devoe, 43, of Marble Falls, Texas, was charged Wednesday in the shooting death of 81-year-old Betty Jane Dehart of North Young Road near State Line, Pa. Pennsylvania State Police said at an afternoon press conference that Devoe, who is also a suspect in five murders committed last week in Texas, was charged Wednesday in Franklin County, Pa., with criminal homicide, robbery, burglary and theft in the shooting death of the great-great-grandmother....
