A man arrested last year by the U.S. Marshals Service is facing extradition to Puerto Rico, but not on the homicide warrant on which he was apprehended. Carlos Baez-Quinonez, who was 24 when arrested in May 2012, appeared in the Franklin County (Pa.) Court of Common Pleas on Thursday before Senior Judge John Walker. Walker ordered Baez-Quinonez be extradited to Puerto Rico on a parole violation warrant issued by that commonwealth. He said the defendant has 30 days to appeal his ruling.

A Georgia woman apprehended late last year in connection to a 1995 shooting death in Franklin County, Pa., pleaded not guilty to criminal homicide Wednesday. Tonya N. Dice, 39, is charged with criminal homicide and hindering apprehension or prosecution. On July 14, 1999, former magisterial district judge Larry K. Meminger issued an arrest warrant for Dice based on the Pennsylvania State Police investigation into the 1995 shooting death of Freddie Brumfield in Greene Township. A bench warrant had already been issued for Dice after she failed to appear in court in July 1995 in an unrelated drug case.

Jeffrey E. Miles Sr., who is charged with killing two people, waived mandatory arraignment Wednesday in the Franklin County (Pa.) Court of Common Pleas and had a not-guilty plea entered on his behalf in the case involving a 17-year-old female beaten to death. Miles, 49, of State Line, Pa., is charged with criminal homicide in the 1995 death of Waynesboro, Pa., teenager Angie Lynn Daley. Her remains were found in April 2010 on a farm in southern Franklin County. The same day that Daley's remains were discovered, law enforcement officials found a Hagerstown woman's body in the woods off Ninth Street in Waynesboro.

A man accused of fatally shooting three people in Quincy Township, Pa., and fleeing the state with his daughter in July pleaded not guilty Wednesday to the criminal charges filed in his case. Kevin M. Cleeves, 35, appeared before Franklin County (Pa.) Court of Common Pleas Judge Shawn Meyers for mandatory arraignment. Cleeves said little as his public defender indicated the defendant would plead not guilty on all counts. Cleeves is charged with three counts of criminal homicide, kidnapping of a minor, unlawful restraint of a minor, two counts of illegal possession of a firearm, interference with custody and endangering the welfare of a child.

The Franklin County District Attorney has filed a notice that will give him the option to pursue the death penalty in the case against a Waynesboro, Pa., man charged with fatally shooting his wife and two other people in July. District Attorney Matt Fogal said Friday during a press conference in the Franklin County Courthouse annex that the filing of the notice of aggravating circumstances will allow his office - if it chooses - to request at a later time to seek the death penalty for Kevin M. Cleeves.

A man criminally charged with killing his 70-year-old mother has been found competent to stand trial, although those proceedings have been delayed. In an opinion and order issued this week, Franklin County (Pa.) Court of Common Pleas Judge Richard Walsh said he reviewed several reports from mental health professionals who evaluated Marcus Wallace. Wallace, 41, is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault.

A forensic pathologist offered testimony Tuesday as a Franklin County (Pa.) Court of Common Pleas judge assesses whether a man accused of killing his mother is mentally competent to stand trial this December. Marcus Wallace, 41, is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault. Prosecutors, who are seeking the death penalty, say Wallace attacked his mother, Consuella Wallace, in her Hamilton Township, Pa., home Dec. 10, 2009.

Investigators probing the 1995 disappearance of a Waynesboro, Pa., teenager knew of Jeffrey E. Miles Sr. before his alleged confession 15 years later to her bludgeoning death, a state police trooper testified in court Monday. “I was notified by two sources his name had come up in a missing-person report,” Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Aaron B. Martin said. Franklin County (Pa.) Court of Common Pleas Judge Carol Van Horn presided over Monday's preliminary hearing for Miles, 49, on a criminal homicide charge.

A Franklin County, Pa., man accused of killing three people and fleeing the state with his 4-year-old daughter in July waived his preliminary hearing Friday. Kevin M. Cleeves, 35, is charged with three counts of criminal homicide, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, interfering with the custody of children, unlawful restraint of a minor and endangering the welfare of children. Police allege Cleeves fatally shot his wife, her boyfriend and the boyfriend's mother before attempting to drive his daughter, Leia, to Wisconsin.

A psychiatrist will be appointed to analyze a man awaiting trial in the 2009 fatal attack on his 70-year-old mother. Marcus Wallace, 41, is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault. Prosecutors, who are seeking the death penalty, say Wallace attacked his mother, Consuella Wallace, in her Hamilton Township, Pa., home Dec. 10, 2009. She died from her injuries in February 2010.
