A Hagerstown man was charged Tuesday with 17 drug-related offenses after the Washington County Narcotics Task Force seized crack cocaine and half a dozen other controlled dangerous substances in a search of a Little Elliott Drive apartment. Tedros Amerech, 41, whose address was listed as 122 E. Oak Ridge Drive, Apt. 12, was being held Wednesday in the Washington County Detention Center on $200,000 bail, according to a detention center officer. He was charged with three counts of possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, seven counts of possession of narcotics and seven counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to District Court records.

An Inwood, W.Va., man was sentenced Friday to 11 years in prison, according to U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein. Aushante Trotman, 39, will serve five years of supervised release after the prison sentence, Rosenstein said Monday in a news release. Trotman, who was sentenced by U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine, went to a Hagerstown home Feb. 18, 2010, to buy cocaine and crack cocaine, according to the release.

A West Virginia woman charged as an accessory after the fact in a March 6 slaying in her apartment was in Washington County District Court for a preliminary hearing Thursday on drug charges in Maryland. District Judge Mark D. Thomas found probable cause to forward charges against Ashley Nicole Carpegna to Washington County Circuit Court. Carpegna, 26, of Martinsburg, is charged in Maryland with two counts each of possession with intent to distribute narcotics, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show.

A Mt. Airy man faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison after a Washington County Circuit Court jury this week convicted him of distribution of crack cocaine. Anthony Darnell Oram, 48, of 3745 Old Mill Bottom Road, was convicted Tuesday of distribution of crack cocaine, criminal conspiracy to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records. Sentencing for Oram was deferred until a presentence investigation is completed, said Robert Veil, the supervising prosecutor for the Washington County Narcotics Task Force.

Two charged following undercover drug buy in W.Va. Deputies from the Berkeley and Morgan county sheriff’s departments charged two people with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and other counts following an undercover drug buy Thursday at 35 Barney Lane in Hedgesville, W.Va., the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said. Onique Williams, 23, of Laurel, Md., also was charged with delivery of crack cocaine, possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine and possession with intent to deliver heroin, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Charged twice in the same week with drug offenses, including selling cocaine concealed in a box of dog biscuits, a 22-year-old Hagerstown man entered two guilty pleas Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court and was sentenced to five years in state prison. Jesse Lee Godwin, of 114 East Ave., pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute oxycodone stemming from a search of his home July 3, 2010, and distribution of cocaine for a purchase made by an informant six days later.

A Hagerstown man was sentenced Tuesday in Washington County Circuit Court to 10 years in prison for distribution of crack cocaine. Luis G. Caldero, 31, of 1040 Brinker Drive, Apt. 302, pleaded guilty before Circuit Judge M. Kenneth Long Jr., who sentenced him to 20 years in prison with 10 of those years suspended. Long also ordered that Caldero be placed on probation for three years after his release from prison. Additional charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed as part of the plea agreement, court records show.
