Three face drug charges after stings FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick Police Department charged three men with drug and other charges Friday and Saturday following undercover operations by the department's Drug Enforcement Unit, according to press releases. Dominique Isiah Smallwood, 18, no fixed address, and Shane Robert Stewart, 26, of 1365 David Lane in Frederick, were charged Saturday in an operation targeting drug use and sales in the Housing Authority Projects of the City of Frederick.

A Martinsburg man accused of selling $3,000 in crack cocaine to a confidential informant was arraigned Friday on one felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to court documents. James Willard Johnson, 37, of 325 Athletic St., is accused of selling 2.5 ounces of crack cocaine to the informant on Monday in a deal that was orchestrated by members of the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, the documents said. Martinsburg Police Department Sgt. Matt Zollinger said in a complaint against the defendant that the drug transaction was recorded, the documents said.

Four charged with drug offenses Hagerstown Police charged four people with drug offenses Friday in the 200 block of North Potomac Street in Hagerstown. Monique Thomas, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, distribution of crack cocaine, two counts of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, two counts of possession of crack cocaine and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, police said in a release. Mark Armstrong, 45, of 69 Murph Ave. in Hagerstown, was charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, distribution of crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Three people were charged with drug offenses Friday night after the Hagerstown Police Department raided two apartments where they found cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash, according to a police department press release. At 10:15 p.m., members of the department's Street Crime Unit, aided by the Washington County Special Response Team, searched 138 E. Franklin St., Apt. 3. There were eight people in the apartment, along with "numerous pieces" of crack cocaine, marijuana, paraphernalia and $978 in cash, according to the release.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ten arrests were made Thursday when the U.S. Marshals Service went out in search of 13 area fugitives, according to a news release. o Michael Crum of Kearneysville, W.Va., was arrested on a federal warrant charging him with conspiracy to sell stolen firearms and being a felon in possession of a firearm. o Justin Rodehaver, of Martinsburg, was arrested on a federal warrant charging him with several counts of distribution of crack cocaine and distribution of heroin.

Two Hagerstown men and a South Carolina man were arrested Saturday during a Hagerstown Police Department Street Crimes Unit undercover prostitution sting, according to a written release from Sgt. Jim Robison. Each of the men were charged with general prostitution in connection with allegedly soliciting an undercover police officer for sexual favors, according to the release. Gerald Bernhisel, 59, of 570 Jefferson St. in Hagerstown, and Jimmy Sherlock, 54, of P.O. Box 7691 in North Augusta, S.C., each were charged with one count of general prostitution.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Residents in the North Church Street area were so happy about a crack cocaine bust in their neighborhood Wednesday night that they gave the Charles Town Police Department a cake on Thursday to thank them. The neighbors were reacting to the culmination of a drug investigation that started in July 2006 and involved five instances where police used a confidential informant to purchase crack cocaine, police said. The residents who brought the cake that read "Thanks" across the top of it had been complaining to police about the problem, Charles Town Police Chief Barry Subelsky said.

Four people charged following a Washington County Narcotics Task Force drug search and seizure operation Tuesday evening remained at the Washington County Detention Center Wednesday evening, a detention center spokesman said.
