FREDERICK, Md. -- Shakespearean performances and workshops, an expanded children's area, and a silent auction are new features of the annual Frederick Festival of the Arts. Also new this year is the admission price. The festival, which used to cost $5 to $7, is now free, said Apple Reese, marketing and development director for the Frederick Arts Council. The arts council took over the event this year and wanted to give everyone in the Frederick area an equal opportunity to attend and take advantage of the variety of entertainment, Reese said.
