Boonsboro Girl Scout troops 40169 and 40708 signed, filled and buried a time capsule May 28 at Greenbrier Elementary School. The capsule is filled with letters the girls wrote to themselves, patches, a 100th anniversary Girl Scout flag, empty Girl Scout Tagalong cookie box and other mementos from the girls. The girls voted to bury the capsule for 10 years. Many of the girls will be in high school or college when it is reopened. The troop leaders, Fran Gabianelli, Shawn Bryce and Jen Keller, would like to thank Principal Jennifer Scarberry-Price and past Principal Beth Allshouse for allowing the girls to have their meetings at the school and for allowing them to bury the capsule.

Boy Scout Troop 23 in Funkstown more than doubled in size the first year. The troop started with six boys a year ago and now has 15 members. The Scouts have completed more than 200 hours of community service, and 10 boys have advanced in rank and earned 35 merit badges. The troop earned the title of honor unit at summer camp, the Gold Level Journey to Excellence award and the Founder Unit award, and the patrols earned the National Honor Patrol award. Scoutmaster Rich Gaver, an Eagle Scout, is proud of the unit and the things it has accomplished.

The Country Western Dance Association will offer line dance lessons Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, at the corner of Virginia Avenue and Halfway Boulevard. Trains of Christmas to roll this weekend The Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, at 300 S. Burhans Blvd. Hagerstown, will host the Trains of Christmas program Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. each day. The event will feature the visions, sounds and snows of Christmas past and present on an “O” gauge railroad the trains of Lionel, MTH, Williams, Weaver and others.

Auditions for "High School Reunion: The Musical," will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan 5, 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Apollo Civic Theatre, 128 E. Martin St., Martinsburg. Roles are available for 10 men and seven women, ages mid-30s to late 50s. The show will be staged Fridays through Sundays, March 8 to 10, and March 15 to 17. The show centers around the class reunion at Lincroft High where everyone you ever loved, hated, had a crush on, or wanted to punch in the face will be there.

The staff at Winter Street Elementary School will hold a “McTeacher” Night Thursday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McDonald's restaurant on Dual Highway in Hagerstown. A portion of the proceeds from the food sold during that time will be donated to the school. Parents, friends and neighbors are invited to attend. The more food the teachers sell while working, the more money the school will raise. The event will be dine in or carry-out only. Winter Street Elementary PTA plans pizza sale The Winter Street Elementary School PTA will sell Little Caesar's Pizza Kits as a fundraiser to benefit the students.
