MEN'S BASKETBALL HCC 90, Chesapeake 86 WYE MILLS, Md. -- Isaiah Hill led Hagerstown with 16 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks and a pair of assists as the Hawks edged Chesapeake in the Maryland JuCo Conference. K'yan Andrews tallied 19 points, seven rebounds and three steals, Amaurys Fermin had 14 points, six boards and seven assists and Jeremy Myers scored 10 points for HCC (15-3, 8-1). BROCKTON, Mass. - Drew DeShong had three hits and four RBIs to lead the Hagerstown PONY All-Stars to a 7-3 win over Chesapeake (Va.) in the championship game of the East Zone Tournament on Sunday. With the victory, Hagerstown clinched its first berth in the PONY World Series since 2002. Hagerstown will begin play Sunday against host Washington (Pa.) at 8 p.m. "The boys are ecstatic that we're going to the World Series. It's huge," Hagerstown manager Steve Berger said. "This was our goal when we started.

COLLEGE BASEBALL HARMANS, Md. - Alex Stover's one-out double in the bottom of the ninth scored Roland Thiele with the winning run as Hagerstown Community College defeated Monroe (N.Y.) 5-4 Sunday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XX tournament at Joe Cannon Stadium. The Hawks (36-16-1) are scheduled to play Potomac State in the semifinals today at 1 p.m., weather permitting. Potomac State beat Chesapeake 6-2 on Sunday. The Hawks trailed 4-3 going into their half of the ninth.

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hagerstown Community College men's basketball posted a season-high point total Sunday afternoon in the semifinals of the Maryland JuCo Conference Tournament. The problem? The Hawks surrendered a season-high point total to Chesapeake College. The second-seeded Skipjacks shot a scorching 63.8 percent from the field and worked up a 29-point second-half lead before withstanding a late Hawks' rally to post a 122-111 at Frederick Community College. WILLIAMSPORT - Top-seeded Hagerstown Community College is one of three teams still alive after Saturday's Region XX Softball Tournament action at Kemps Mill Park. The Hawks cruised to a five-inning, 10-0 victory over fourth-seeded Chesapeake in the second round. Everybody in the batting order hit safely for HCC (29-4). Nina Chiaruttini and Ashley Arentz each finished 3-for-3. "Our team played really well together," Chiaruttini said. "Our team hit the ball down and that is what we have been trying to do all year.
