Each month, one student from each classroom at Hickory Elementary School is named a Character Counts! Good Citizens of the Month. Students are nominated by classroom teachers for demonstrating one of the six pillars of character. Students were nominated in the month of October for displaying the character trait of responsibility. The students selected and their parents/guardians were honored with a celebration assembly Oct. 24. Here is a list of those students selected in October: Anna Kesselring, Dylan Kesler, Talon Koerting, Lucy Kotler, Yadira Parada, Torieana Sumlin, Logan Adkins, Alexia Heagy, Eric Wang, Abby Blickenstaff, Emily Shartzer, Owen Wood, Sophie Butts and Lydia Carr.

During October, students were recognized for the Character Counts! trait of respect at Hickory Elementary School. Students and families were invited to school for a "pinning ceremony," which included certificates, pencils and erasers, followed by ice cream sundaes and family bingo. Honored students included Tanner Stottlemyer, Deacon Gossard, Shelby Hoflich, Aleya Bullard, Danielle Howlett, Thomas Haws, Noah Baker, Jacob Smith, Justin Ahmadian, Kelli Price, Camiren Nazelrod, Jaden Brady, Noah Likely, Aly Cosiem, Lucas Litten and Shannon Magnis.

Clear Spring Elementary School hosted its fourth Golden Table luncheon of the school year March 31. The event honored students who demonstrated the Character Counts! trait of fairness during the month of March. Lunches were provided by McDonald's of Clear Spring.
