The West Virginia Division of Highways announced Thursday that Rosedale Cemetery Road (Berkeley County Route 45/6) will be closed on Monday. The closure is approximately one-tenth mile south of the intersection with Jenny Wren Drive and will be in place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in order to replace a culvert, according to a news release from the division of highways. Motorists are advised to use Burke Street, Queen Street and Moler Avenue. 

LeoLa Louise Grover Gill, 86, of Inwood, W.Va., died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va., and Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Benjamin R. Olney Funeral Home in Ulysses, Pa., where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Genesee (Pa.) Cemetery.

The Pleasant View Cemetery Co. of Rohrersville will hold its annual meeting Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. in the social hall of Bethel United Methodist Church, Main Street in Rohrersville. The meeting is open to all voting members, which include stockholders, plot owners, descendants of stock holders and plot owners, as well as those who donated $100 or more to the trust fund. Joseph R. Hayden, 92, a resident of Golden Living Center of Hagerstown, and formerly of 12676 Molly Pitcher Highway, Greencastle, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at the nursing center. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle. A graveside service will be Friday at noon at McClellandtown (Pa.) Presbyterian Church (Church Hill) Cemetery.

With candles cradled in their hands, about 600 people made their way through Rose Hill Cemetery Friday night to remember their loved ones during the holiday season. Since the 1990s, the Hagerstown cemetery has hosted a candlelight walk with its annual tree lighting to bring comfort and hope during the holidays to those who have lost a loved one, said Bill Divelbiss, executive vice president of the cemetery. "A lot of people are really sad tonight," Divelbiss said. "We do this to lift their spirits at this time of year.

A Hagerstown man police said crashed a car into Rest Haven Cemetery and fled on foot following a high-speed pursuit early Tuesday has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and six other counts, the Washington County District Court Commissioners Office said. Martha E. Meyers Barnes, 85, of Greencastle, Pa., died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at her home. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, and Saturday one half-hour before the service at Grace United Church of Christ, Greencastle. The service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Thomas (Pa.) Cemetery.

The Boonsboro Cemetery Association is announcing the launch of its new website, BoonsboroCemetery.org . The site provides information about the history of the cemetery, policies and all other aspects of the association. Sandy family reunion The J.W. Sandy Family will hold a reunion Sunday at Rohrersville United Methodist Church, beginning at 12:30 p.m.  Joan Miller will run the meeting. Jeffrey D. Beamer, 37, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. The service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillsboro (Va.) Cemetery.
