Anna Jean Koontz, 80, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center. Born Nov. 17, 1932, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ivan L. and Anna M. Dotter Showe. Anna was a telephone operator at the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. for seven years, employed with Sears in the advertising department for 15 years, and was also secretary for the family business, Koontz Plastering and Drywall. She was a former member at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Pearl Myers Naylor, 86, of Smithsburg, Md., died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, Md. Born Sept. 30, 1926, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Bertha Potter Brown. Pearl was preceded in death by her first husband, John K. Myers, and her second husband, Bob Naylor. She is survived by three daughters, Linda McKeever of Smithsburg, Cindy Wolfensberger of Hagerstown and Heidi Danjolu of Boonsboro, Md.; two sons, John Myers of Williamsport, Md., and Kenny Myers of Smithsburg; three brothers, John Brown and David Brown, both of Hagerstown, and Joe Brown of Thurmont, Md.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Leroy Carson Cauffman, 83, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, with his loving wife of 58 years and his son by his side. Born June 24, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son and the last surviving child of the late Arthur Cleveland and Jennie Elizabeth Nagle Cauffman. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was of the Protestant faith. He retired from Western Maryland/Chessie System Railroad after 29 years.

James William Kershner, 93, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown. Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Earl McKinley and Grace Mae Ausherman Kershner. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a life member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown. He retired from Mack Trucks after 20 years. James was a member of Mack Golden Bulldogs, Funkstown Volunteer Fire Co. and Washington County AMVETS Post 10; a charter and life member of Funkstown American Legion Post 211; and a member of Elks Lodge 378, AARP, United Auto Workers 171 and Eagles Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Mae Kershner; a son, James Lee Kershner and wife, Linda, of Funkstown; a grandson, James Frederick Kershner and wife, Michele, of Funkstown; and two great-grandchildren.

Wanda Lee Harne, 85, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Julia Manor Health Care Center. Born Sunday, March 18, 1928, in Thomas, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Joseph Shureck and the late Marguerite J. (Suder) Shureck. She graduated from Thomas High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Wanda was a former employee of L'Aiglon, Fairchild, 7-Eleven and Gabriel Toys. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lee Harne-Herbert of Hagerstown; sons, Steven Michael Harne, David Perry Harne and Martin Allen Harne, all of Hagerstown, and Tony Lynn Harne of San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Nancy Lee Curry, 75, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Williamsport, Md., passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at her home. Born March 1, 1938, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Nellie Pearl Forsythe Young. She was a 1956 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was previously employed by Tri-State Electronics Manufacturing and Gabriel Bros., both of Hagerstown. She was a Christian. Nancy enjoyed bowling, reading, spending time at the beach and spending time with her family.

Nathan Calvin Bridendolph Sr., 59, of Williamsport, Md., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. Born Nov. 28, 1953, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Ethel Mae Bridendolph McCarty of Clear Spring, Md. He retired from First Energy Corp. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ronald McCarty. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Bridendolph; two sons, Nathan Bridendolph Jr. and wife, Gretchen, of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Adam Bridendolph and Stephanie Pulver of Hagerstown; two sisters, Cathy Beach of Falling Waters and Mary Chaney of Clear Spring; two brothers, Kevin Zittle of Anacoco, La. and Shane McCarty of State Line, Pa.; and was expecting two grandchildren.

Doris Dorothy Stine, 87, of Hagerstown, Md., and our beloved mother, has gone home to be with her Lord, Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at her home. Born Jan. 21, 1926, in Latrobe, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Grace M. (Lintz) Burkhart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert D. Stine. Leonard Downey Stine and wife, Marsha, of Waynesboro, Pa.; one sister, Edna Hamilton of Latrobe; one brother, Richard Burkhart of Milton, Pa.; five grandchildren, Rodney Stine II of Salisbury, Md., Kevin Stine of Philippines, Matthew Stine of Chambersburg, Pa., and Joyella Stine and Lynnae Stine, both of Waynesboro.        She was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
