“Good article in the Sunday paper on the 12th, about the hotel/motel tax and the stadium. Doubled the tax in 2000, from 3 to 6 percent, $15.3 million, and it was used to support cultural and recreational, because it wasn't stipulated in the legislation. Cearfoss roundabout is working well To the editor: The roundabouts recently proposed, or approved, by city and county officials have raised the ire of some citizens who decry these traffic-calming devices and claim that calamitous crash-chaos will inevitably follow if these plans are allowed to go full circle (pun intended). Allow me to remind you of a study conducted by the Federal Highway Administration, which concluded that the Cearfoss roundabout resulted in a crash reduction of 76.5 percent and reduced injury crashes by 93.8 percent per year.
