Due to increased security measures, portions of Catoctin Mountain Park will be closed effective Friday at about 11:45 a.m. Closures are scheduled to continue through Sunday at about 4:30 p.m. Park Central Road is closed between the Camp Misty Mount Entrance and Camp Greentop. The routes to Blue Ridge Summit Overlook and Hog Rock are not available during the closure. Please direct questions about these closures to Catoctin Mountain Park Visitor Center at 301-663-9388.

THURMONT, Md. --People traveling the four miles of Md. 77 within the boundaries of Catoctin Mountain Park might experience periodic delays from Monday at 8 a.m. through Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m., according to a park press release. Traffic will be reduced to one lane while tree contractors remove hazardous and standing dead trees near the shoulder of the road and trim large overhanging dead limbs, according to the release. The work is performed annually to ensure the safety of visitors traveling through the park.

Park Central Road is closed between the Camp Misty Mount entrance and Camp Greentop. Reservations for Poplar Grove, Camp Misty Mount, Camp Greentop, and Camp Round Meadow will be honored. The routes to Blue Ridge Summit Overlook and Hog Rock are not available during this closure. Hikers may access trails to Thurmont Vista, Wolf Rock, and Chimney Rock as well as the Falls Nature Trail from the Visitor Center Trailheads.
