The One Mountain Foundation will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner, auction and dance Saturday, March 23, at American Legion Post 239 on McAfee Hill Road in Cascade.  The menu includes spaghetti, tomato or meat sauce, meat balls, Italian bread and a variety of rolls, salad with choice of dressings, dessert, and drink (coffee, tea, or water). Dinner will start at 5 p.m., the auction is at 7 p.m. and dancing will be from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for those ages 5 to 12. Those younger than 5 will be admitted free.

James D. “Jim” Coyle III, 65, of Pennersville Road, Cascade, Md., passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital. Born Aug. 29, 1947, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late James D. “Bob” Coyle Jr. and Dora Jane (Cooper) Coyle. He was a graduate of Smithsburg High School, Class of 1965. He was a self-employed auto mechanic for Coyle's 66 Filling Station and Coyle's Garage. He was a member of ACACIA Lodge 155 AF & AM of Thurmont, Md., SAL American Legion Post 239 of Cascade and Blue Ridge Sportsmen's Association.

One person died and another was taken to a hospital after a head-on collision Sunday morning in the 14400 block of MacAfee Hill Road near the Fort Ritchie Community Center, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Sun Winstead, 62, of Waynesboro, Pa., was pronounced dead at the scene, Deputy 1st Class Carly Hose said in a news release. Jason Belcher, 42, also of Waynesboro, was transported to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown and later taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, authorities said.

Whack. A toddler struck a Christmas tree with a bat. A crowd cheered him on as it spun in circles. The tree was stuffed with candy, a piñata to amuse the 50 or so children who celebrated the Christmas season Saturday at Fort Ritchie Community Center's Tree Lighting and Fun with Santa. At the opposite end of the gymnasium were older children with slightly more refined motor skills hammering away at a snowman piñata. A young girl executed the final blow as an excited throng made a mad dash for its contents.

Daegan Stine, a junior from Cascade, will perform during Jazz Night at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be Thursday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m., in Decker Center Forum. Directed by Bo Eckard, a senior lecturer in music, the performance highlights the Thursday Jazz Ensemble, Monday Jazz Ensemble, and the five-piece Jazz Combo. Styles of jazz represented include classic big band, swing, bebop, Latin, funk, jazz-rock and Tin Pan Alley.

William Andrew “Bill” Webber, 88, of Devonshire Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Julia Manor Health Care Center of Hagerstown. Born Sept. 23, 1924, in Knoxville, Md., he was the son of the late Lloyd A. and Annie (Porter) Webber Daugherty. He was a veteran of World War II, serving three years in the United States Army Air Force. He was a member of Local 1473 Painters Union of Hagerstown and retired from the Washington County Board of Education.

Edouarda Mary “Edgie” Bridgers Davis, 91, a resident of Michaux Manor, Fayetteville, Pa., and formerly of 12488 Monterey Lane, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at the nursing home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa. The service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William Hammann officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.

Glen L. Wolfe, 85, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, Pa., and formerly of Sabillasville, Md., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, in the nursing home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Thursday at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.
