The man accused of robbing the Williamsport Pharmacy and taking a vehicle at gunpoint was being held Wednesday at Washington County Detention Center, according to a deputy. Bail for Jamie Parker Barnes, who was arrested Saturday in Virginia, was ordered to remain at $450,000 during a hearing Wednesday. Barnes, 41, of 11301 Grandview Drive in Waynesboro, Pa., allegedly showed a handgun May 2 and told employees at Williamsport Pharmacy that he needed OxyContin because his mother was dying of cancer.

The victim of an alleged carjacking April 10 at 7-Eleven on Salem Avenue told police the man who took his 1995 Ford Windstar met him in the parking lot as part of an arrangement to buy sneakers, according to a charging document. Jesten Larry Waller, 26, of Cincinnati, who is charged with armed carjacking, first-degree assault and theft of more than $500 worth of items, was being held at Washington County Detention Center, a deputy said. Bail for Waller was set at $400,000 Wednesday, court documents show.

HAGERSTOWN - A man wanted by the Washington County Sheriff's Department in a May 2 robbery and carjacking in Williamsport was apprehended at about 7 p.m. Saturday in Strasburg, Va., deputies said. Jamie Parker Barnes, 41, was being held Monday afternoon at the Shenandoah County (Va.) jail, a spokesman there said. Barnes waived extradition to Maryland, Sgt. Roy Harsh said. Barnes was captured after a two-week search through several states. Authorities first found Barnes' wife, Jessica Barnes, who has not been charged with any crimes.

HAGERSTOWN - An arrest warrant has been issued for a man police allege robbed a Williamsport pharmacy, wrecked his vehicle while fleeing and then took the sport utility vehicle of a 48-year-old Hedgesville, W.Va., woman who stopped to help him. The Washington County Sheriff's Department is searching for Jamie Parker Barnes, 41, in connection with the May 2 robbery and carjacking. Barnes is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes, deputies said.

WILLIAMSPORT - The Washington County Sheriff's Department reported this morning that deputies are looking for a man who injured a 48-year-old Hedgesville, W.Va., woman in a carjacking Wednesday near the scene of an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Williamsport. Specific details were not released, other than the man faces charges of armed robbery, carjacking, assault and about 15 other counts, a Sheriff's Department official said. Lt. Travers Ruppert said late Wednesday that police believed the robbery, which was reported at about 10 a.m. at Williamsport Pharmacy, and the carjacking were related.

WILLIAMSPORT - A 48-year-old Hedgesville, W.Va., woman was injured in a carjacking Wednesday near the scene of an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Williamsport, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department. Lt. Travers Ruppert said late Wednesday that police believed the robbery, which was reported at about 10 a.m. at Williamsport Pharmacy, and the carjacking were related. Police said the woman sustained injuries that were not life-threatening after she was carjacked by a man near Md. 68 and Spielman Road.

Police investigate possible carjacking Police in Washington County were investigating a possible carjacking that might have occurred Saturday night at Sheetz on Cannon Avenue in Hagerstown. The vehicle was reported to be a green Chevrolet Tahoe. No other details were available. Fire reported west of Smithsburg Emergency crews were called to the 12800 block of Beck Road, near Little Antietam Road, west of Smithsburg, on Saturday night for a report of a fire.

Warrants have been filed in Washington County District Court for a suspect in an attempted carjacking which occurred late Monday, Hagerstown City Police said. Jason Wayne Fitzgerald, 20, whose last known address was 1579 Broadfording Road, Clear Spring, is wanted on charges of attempted carjacking, theft and assault. The incident allegedly occurred at 11:30 p.m. Monday. Police said the victim and two of his friends told them they stopped to assist a disabled motorist at Dual Highway and Eastern Boulevard.

martinsburg@herald-mail.com MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Police are investigating a carjacking Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Martinsburg Mall, with a woman saying her car was stolen at gunpoint, according to police. Police believe the same man suspected in the carjacking stole a purse from the Food Lion grocery store in Inwood, W.Va., police said. The carjacking happened at around 12:40 p.m. in the mall's parking lot. A 25-year-old Martinsburg woman, whom police did not identify, told investigators that a black man approached her as she got into her car, according to a press release from the Martinsburg Police Department.
