Information sought in Williamsport arson WILLIAMSPORT - The Maryland State Fire Marshal is seeking help from anyone with information about a fire that heavily damaged the centuries-old home of Williamsport's founder. The Springfield Farmhouse fire Wednesday was ruled arson by the state fire marshal. Anyone with information about the fire, or people who were in the area of the house near Byron Memorial Park Tuesday night, may call the state fire marshal's Hagerstown office at 301-791-4758.

WAYNESBORO, PA. waynesboro@herald-mail.com A Waynesboro man who says he doesn't like to get involved has plunked himself in the middle of one of the hottest issues facing downtown Waynesboro ? loud radios in cars. Douglas Delmont, 50, who lives in an apartment complex on Mount Airy Avenue, has formed the Noise Abatement Group to urge the Borough Council to pass a law banning booming car stereo systems. So far, Delmont is the only member of the group. Delmont is modeling his effort after a noise-abatement ordinance in Shippensburg, Pa., that police there are enforcing.

Girl struck by car in Martinsburg MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A 6-year-old girl was struck by a car in the Martins Landing apartment complex Monday night, police said. The girl was taken to City Hospital for injuries including a possible broken leg, said Sgt. Glenn Macher of the Martinsburg Police Department. More details about the accident, which occurred about 8:38 p.m., were not available. Martins Landing is next to City Hospital. Pa. residents taken to hospital after crash HANCOCK - Two Pennsylvania motorists were taken to Washington County Hospital following a one-vehicle crash west of Hancock on Monday afternoon, Washington County Sheriff's Department deputies said.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office recently responded to the following calls: Tuesday: At 8 a.m., a car stereo was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 1800 block of Chickasaw Court off Md. 65. At 9 a.m., three stereos were reported stolen from separate vehicles outside a residence in the 21100 block of Twin Springs Drive near Chewsville. The stereos were valued at about $800. At 11 a.m., a stereo was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 10400 block of Bear Creek Drive off Md. 65. At 1:30 p.m., a wallet was reported missing from Williamsport's pool in Byron Memorial Park.

In what turned into nearly a two-hour argument, Sheriff Randy Smith and Commission President Howard Strauss raised their voices and each was unwilling to back down. They might be favorite songs from days gone by, or songs you heard last week that you can't get out of your mind. You can't help yourself - before you know it, you're singing along, drumming your fingers on the steering wheel and pounding on the dashboard. I do this all the time, and I wondered if anyone else on the Tri-State highways was singing along, too. In a recent column I asked readers to give their choices for the Car Tune Hall of Fame.

Man facing weapon, drug charges MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Ranson, W.Va., man was arrested by Martinsburg City Police Saturday after he was allegedly seen brandishing a weapon from a car on the 600 block of North Queen Street. Clarence Emerson Boyd Jr., 43, was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, according to the report. He was released after posting $17,134 bond. The incident occurred at 11:35 a.m. when city police overheard radio traffic from a Berkeley County Sheriff's deputy about a man in a car making threats.

Police log in November 27 Morning Herald Woman charged with refusing to keep car radio volume down A Waynesboro, Pa., woman was charged after police asked her three times to turn down the volume of her car radio Monday afternoon. Hagerstown City Police said Wintry S. Irvin, 38, of 22 W. 6th St., was charged with disobeying a noise ordinance after police heard music blaring from her car stereo. Each time police asked her to turn down the music she did, only to turn it back up a short time later, police alleged.
