Saturday, December 15, 2012   BOYS BASKETBALL Westtown, Pa. 51, Saint James 44 POTOMAC, MD. - Saint James fell for the second straight game at the Bullis Invitational Tournament on Saturday, losing to Westtown, Pa., 51-44. Fred Slater led the Saints (3-4) with 14 points, Obi Enechionyia had 13 points and 10 rebounds, Nnamdi Enechionyia had 10 points and Sherman Harris dished out seven assists. The Saints were scheduled to play at 10 this morning. WESTTOWN Loerzel 5, Giazelis 5, Nickens 9, Yiljep 16, Sarr 8, Garnim 8. Totals 17 13-20 51. SAINT JAMES (3-4)

GIRLS BASKETBALL Allegany 35, St. Maria Goretti 26 Jessica Tichnell scored 14 points to lead Allegany to its second straight Lady Gaels Classic championship with a win over St. Maria Goretti. Erin Haney had 11 points and four steals to lead the Gaels (5-3). CVCS 52, Broadfording 41 Miranda Payne scored a game-high 23 points to lead Cumberland Valley Christian past Broadfording in the consolation game of the Lady Gaels Classic. Kim Sensenderfer had 14 points and Lauren Peterson added 11 for CVCS (5-2)

It was a game of peaks and valleys for Broadfording's girls basketball team. After getting off to a great start, the Lions hit a dry spell as Calvary Christian briefly took the lead. After that, Broadfording gradually pulled away to defeat the Calvary 55-44 on Friday in a semifinal game of the Mason Dixon Christian Conference Tournament at Grace Academy. "We were sluggish on the offensive end," Broadfording coach Dana Gonzales said, "but our defense and our foul shooting pulled us through.

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 BOYS BASKETBALL SMITHSBURG - Trent Springs scored a game-high 19 points and added three assists and three steals to lead Smithsburg to a 64-51 win over Brunswick (3-2, 2-1) in an MVAL Antietam game on Tuesday. Jordan Fortson had 17 points and six rebounds and Brad Spickler had 10 points for the Leopards (4-2, 3-0). JV: Smithsburg, 44-38 (S: Josh Miller 22).
