Three Hagerstown residents and a Los Angeles resident were injured Saturday afternoon in a car accident on Leitersburg Pike, Maryland State Police said. Ann Martines, 29, was driving a 1998 Buick Lesabre north on Leiters Mill Road at 12:42 p.m. when police allege she failed to stop at a stop sign at Leitersburg Pike and drove into the path of a 1999 Chrysler Concorde. The driver of the Concorde, Stephen Schutte, 21, and his two passengers, Andrew Widmeyer, 20, and Kelly Salvagno, 20, all of Hagerstown, were transported by ambulance to Washington County Hospital for treatment.

Clarification - This story originally posted Oct. 3 did not clearly explain some details of the accident at Edwin Miller Boulevard and Lutz Avenue in Martinsburg, W.Va. West Virginia State Police reported that Gary J. Gregory, the driver of a 1999 GMC Sonoma truck, was attempting to turn west onto Edwin Miller Boulevard and pulled into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. Police said the resulting collision knocked the Sonoma into the westbound lane of Edwin Miller Boulevard, where it collided with a 2000 Buick LeSabre driven by Jerry J. Kusner, and a 2006 International box truck driven by Charles E. Nichols Jr.   A 70-year-old Martinsburg man injured in a four-vehicle crash Friday has died, West Virginia State Police said in a news release Wednesday.

SHARPSBURG -- An 81-year-old woman who was a passenger in a car involved in a fatal accident Sunday on Sharpsburg Pike was being treated Tuesday at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, a spokesman there said. Patsy Miller of Boonsboro was in fair condition Tuesday morning, the spokesman said. Miller was injured after a 1992 Buick LeSabre driven by John Robert Miller ran off the right side of the road near 5604 Sharpsburg Pike and struck a mailbox and drainage ditch, according to Maryland State Police.

SHARPSBURG -- The passenger in a car involved in a fatal accident Sunday on Sharpsburg Pike was discharged from Washington County Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday morning. Patsy Miller, 81, of Boonsboro, was taken to the hospital after a 1992 Buick LeSabre driven by John Robert Miller ran off the right side of the road near 5604 Sharpsburg Pike and struck a mailbox and drainage ditch, according to Maryland State Police. The vehicle went airborne and struck a monument before overturning into a stone wall and coming to rest on its roof, police said.

WILLIAMSPORT - A Sharpsburg woman was killed early this morning when her vehicle hit a utility pole on Md. 63 and rolled down an embankment, Maryland State Police said. Arvella Ruth Hafer, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:07 a.m. accident just south of Falling Waters Road, according to Trooper 1st Class Kyle George. Hafer was alone in her 1993 Buick LeSabre when for unknown reasons, she crossed the center line, George said. Ejected from her vehicle, Hafer wasn't wearing a seat belt.

Two dead after wreck near Clear Spring A woman and a teen from Clear Spring died Friday night after their vehicles collided on U.S. 40 near here, police said. Patricia Louise Boyd, 62, of 169 Cumberland St., died at the scene of the head-on collision. Robert Allen Moore, 16, of 12312 Big Spring Road, died at Washington County Hospital. According to Maryland State Police, Moore was driving a 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck west on U.S. 40 at about 5:05 p.m. Friday when, for an unknown reason, the truck crossed the center line and struck Boyd's eastbound 1989 Buick LeSabre.

Man injured in two-vehicle crash McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A passenger in a Friday night crash in Licking Creek Township was taken to Altoona (Pa.) Regional Hospital, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County. A hospital spokeswoman said Sunday that Raymond Brink, 18, no address available, was in the intensive care unit, but his condition was not released. Brink was passenger in a 1990 Buick LeSabre that was being driven west on U.S. 30 when the driver, John Clark of Youngstown, Pa., turned left at School House Road and into the path of an eastbound 1999 Ford F-250, police said.

SHARPSBURG -- The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident Sunday morning on Sharpsburg Pike was pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital, according to a Maryland State Police news release. It is not clear what caused the accident that resulted in the death of John Robert Miller, 86, of Bakersville Road, Boonsboro, Sgt. Andrew Smith said Sunday night. A passenger in the car, Patsy Miller, 81, of Boonsboro, was in fair condition Sunday night at Washington County Hospital, Smith said.

WELSH RUN, Pa. - A McConnellsburg, Pa., woman died Tuesday night in a one-vehicle accident on Mercersburg Road in Montgomery Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Maria R. Corbett, 45, of 1033 Crossroads Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:46 p.m. crash, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner. Corbett died of blunt force multiple trauma and there will be no autopsy, Conner said. Police said Corbett was driving a 1989 Buick LeSabre north in the 12000 block of Mercersburg Road at a high speed when she lost control on a curve.

Children were playing and a lawn crew was cutting grass at the Valley Meadow Townhomes in Halfway on Monday, a day after a man was shot behind one of the housing units. As they drank coffee on their porches Monday morning, some residents said they weren't surprised a shooting had occurred at the complex. “It's just getting worse here,” said a woman who didn't want to give her name, because the shooter was still on the loose. “I've been trying to get out of here,” another woman said of her efforts to move.

A 16-year-old girl was flown to a Baltimore trauma center and two others were taken to Meritus Medical Center to be treated for injuries they suffered when a car and a sport utility vehicle collided head-on Tuesday morning on Potomac Street in Boonsboro, town police said. The girl, whose name was not released by the Boonsboro Police Department because she is a minor, was in critical condition at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to to a hospital official Tuesday night.

FREDERICK, Md. - Two Frederick men died Tuesday after their car was struck by another car and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 in Frederick about 12:25 p.m., Maryland State Police said. The passenger, Alvin S. Culver, 81, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver, Verlin Arnold Krabill, 83, was taken to Washington County Hospital, where he died of injuries sustained in the crash, police said. Krabill was in the far left lane of westbound I-70 when he attempted to cross three lanes of traffic to exit onto northbound U.S. 15, police said.
