Everyone comes for Civil War battle re-enactments - the smoke, the noise, the advancing lines of men and horses. But who stays for dinner after the battle? As spectators dribbled out of the grounds after Saturday's "Maryland, My Maryland" re-enactment of the Battle of South Mountain, Sharon Jackson poked the fire at the 27th Virginia Company C encampment. Jackson is from Pennsylvania, but she's with the 4th Texas Company B. But on Saturday, her unit was on campaign, so she was adopted as a cook by the 27th Virginia.

Family Traditions Lighthouse's $18.95 seafood buffet includes flounder stuffed with crabmeat, steamed scallops, steamed mussels and steamed shrimp. Summer means seafood to many people. At Family Traditions Lighthouse restaurant in Chambersburg, Pa., the seafood buffet is a year-round Friday night tradition. Owners Tony and Melissa Sherman brought the seafood buffet feature back when they bought the family restaurant two years ago. They also brought back menus, for those not interested in the daily buffets.

The Hagerstown High School class of 1944 will hold its 65th class reunion Saturday, Sept. 26, at noon at the Plaza Hotel. The reunion will include a hot buffet luncheon. The Women's Club will sponsor a bus trip and guided tour of the Gettysburg battlefield Monday, Oct. 15. The tour will begin at the Eisenhower Farm, include a buffet luncheon at Dobbin House Tavern, and a two-hour riding tour of the battlefield with a guide.
