Mr. Robert "Brian" Tritapoe, 57, of Knoxville, Md., passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012. He was the husband of Donna Alger Tritapoe for 29 years. Born Oct. 9, 1955, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Dorothy Mullenix Tritapoe of Hagerstown and the late Robert M. Tritapoe. Mr. Tritapoe was a 1973 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He worked for Amtrack as an electrician. Brian was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting and most of all socializing.

Boonsboro Student Government Association Adviser Mrs. Ernst provided the following information regarding Boonsboro High School's homecoming activities: The powder puff game will kick off at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The cost is $3 for students and $5 for adults. The Warriors will square off against Brunswick at 7 p.m. Friday at Warrior Field. The annual parade will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Chicken barbecue planned Saturday The Boonsboro Ambulance and Rescue Co., at 7619 Old National Pike, will hold a chicken barbecue, bake sale and soup sale Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Ruritan to hold annual fall festival The Rohrersville Ruritan will hold its annual fall fest Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be children's activities, including pumpkin painting and a costume contest (adults included)

JoAnn E. (Reese) Lum, 80, of Boonsboro, Md., went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, Oct. 6, 2012, at her home. Born June 19, 1932, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late James Raymond and E. Marie (Foreman) Reese Sr. She was a 1950 graduate of Boonsboro High School. JoAnn was a member of Sharpsburg Bible Church. She was a homemaker in recent years and had managed Fleisher's Clothing Store on the square of Hagerstown for a number of years, retiring in 1990.

To many people, including teenagers, texting or looking at a phone while driving has almost become second nature. Boonsboro High School senior Elie Nogle said the issue of distracted driving can be personal to her. “I've known people who have died from accidents,” she said. “When we can see things like the graphics of an accident it checks people into reality.” Nogle, 17, president of Boonsboro High's Student Government Association, took part in Tuesday's announcement of the Stay Alive!

Daniel Nicolosi of Boonsboro graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Towson University in May. Nicolosi is a 2008 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He is the son of A.J. and Nancy Nicolosi. His sister, Stephanie Young, and brothers Bryan, Marc and Brandon also are Boonsboro High graduates. In addition to graduating, Nicolosi was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He reported to Armor Basic Officers Leadership Course at Fort Benning, Ga., and will graduate this fall.

Janice Elaine Kline, 81, of 6216 Appletown Road, in Boonsboro, Md., died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Kline. Born Dec. 25, 1930, in Locust Grove, Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Grace Smith Rice. She was a 1948 graduate of Boonsboro High School. She was employed by London Fog Manufacturing, retiring after 27 years. She was a lifetime member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville, Md. She is survived by one daughter, Maria Martz of Boonsboro; two sons, David Martz and his wife, Joann, of Williamsport, Md., and Dana Martz of Boonsboro; a longtime best friend, Marie Zeigler of Hagerstown; a very close, best friend, Carolyn Jones of Boonsboro; and two grandchildren, Chris and Erin Baltozer, both of Boonsboro.

A few years ago, as the Boonsboro High School football team was getting ready to play its home opener, its scoreboard went on the fritz and one had to be borrowed from the nearby Boonsboro Area Athletic Association, said Karen Seabright, former secretary of the Boonsboro Athletic Boosters. Another time in recent years, the scoreboard's sound system was out for the homecoming game, so the name of the homecoming queen couldn't be announced, Seabright said. This season, Warrior Stadium events have a different kind of scoreboard theatrics - the good kind.

Tuesday marks the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on our nation. First Hose Co. of Boonsboro will host the 9/11 remembrance parade in memory of the fire, rescue and law enforcement personnel who lost their lives Sept. 11, 2001. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Vernon Brown at 301-432-4772. Class of 1964 The Boonsboro High Class of 1964 will hold its annual picnic Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Pavilion No. 1 in Shafer Park. The event is free for class members and one guest.

Arthur David Painter, 86, of Boonsboro, Md., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md., peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born Nov. 14, 1925, in Sharpsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Ray and Frances Rosetta Johnson Painter. He was a 1943 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He was employed by the U.S. government until retiring in 1982. He worked for the Army Map Service and the Topographical Command. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was member of Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro.
