The Williamsport High School Blue Band Boosters will hold a money bonanza Friday, May 21, at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown. It is open to anyone 21 and older. Tickets cost $35 per couple, which includes dinner, soda, dessert, beer on tap and a chance to win money. The first and every 10th ticket drawn will win $35. The last drawing will be for $1,000. There will be a cash bar, drawings, raffles, 50/50 and tip jars. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6. WILLIAMSPORT - The Williamsport High Blue Band will debut its new uniforms at halftime of a home football game at the school on Friday, Sept. 11. Williamsport will play Catoctin in a game that begins at 7:30 p.m. Williamsport High School Band Boosters are inviting individual and corporate sponsors to the game to see the uniforms, which keep the military style and a more modern look, and to be honored for their donations. A spokeswoman for the Band Boosters said the uniforms cost $53,000.

The Williamsport Blue Band will hold a fundraiser Wednesday night at the Chick-fil-A restaurant on Wesel Boulevard in Hagerstown. The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Let the restaurant know you read about the fundraiser in the newspaper, and Chick-fil-A will donate a portion of your bill to the Blue Band. WHS choral group hosts holiday dinner, concert On Saturday, Dec. 5, the WHS Choral Department will host its annual holiday dinner and concert at Williamsport High School. A dinner of turkey with whipped potatoes and gravy, stuffing, sauerkraut, peas, cranberry sauce and apple crisp with vanilla ice cream will be served. Also included will be iced tea, lemonade and coffee. A concession table will be open before the show selling cookies, candies and other goodies.

o Read more Jamie Shekels columns at washingtoncountyliving.com Hoedown planned at Hagerstown Park Fairgrounds Park in Hagerstown will be hosting the annual Harvest Hoedown on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The first 750 children ages 12 and younger will receive a free pumpkin and apple. A scarecrow-making activity will be available, along with pumpkin painting, balloon animals, hayrides, tractor barrel rides, a petting zoo, face painting and more.  Homecoming events set for Oct. 24 Williamsport High School will kick off its Homecoming celebration with the annual parade on Saturday, Oct. 24. Those interested in participating as a marching unit may reserve a place by contacting Mr. Stike at 301-766-8434.

The themed musical productions were part of this year's Showcase of Marching Bands, a noncompetitive performance featuring all seven of Washington County's high school marching bands and a combined performance of "God Bless America.

MAY 19, 1994-MAY 23, 2010 Josh Forsythe, 16, of Hagerstown, was called home to be with his Savior Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Sinai Hospital after a two-year battle with Ewing's sarcoma, a very rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. He was born May 19, 1994, at Washington County Hospital, the son of Ann Forsythe Crist and Scott Andrew Crist. He was a sophomore at Williamsport High School and a member of the Blue Band. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

Lawrence Tracy Cline, 56, of Mason, Ohio, died Sept. 8, 2012, at Hospice of Cincinnati. Born Oct. 26, 1955, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Robert W. Cline Sr. and Grace (Mercereau) Cline. He was the loving father of Brandon, Justin, Spencer, Serina and Jason; and the beloved husband of Gail Andersen. He is survived by his brother, Douglas (Lynn) Cline; sisters-in-law, Linda Deubert, Susan (John) Lethbridge and Gayle Cline; brother-in-law, Jerry Matheny; mother-in-law, Margaret Andersen; and 11 nieces and nephews.

Blue Band places second at Tournament of Bands The Williamsport Blue Band placed second in the Tournament of Bands event at Martinsburg High School in Martinsburg, W.Va., on Saturday, Sept. 20. Decked out in new uniforms, the band scored 75.1 out of a possible 100 points. The next Tournament of Bands will be Saturday at North Hagerstown High School.
