St. John's Episcopal Church will hold its annual vacation Bible school from July 15 to 19 in the church education building. The theme is “Sky - All Things Are Possible With God!” VBS will begin with supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by classes from 6 to 8 p.m. The school will include a Biblical storyteller, an imagination station, games and crafts. Classes are targeted for those ages 3 to adult. The church is at 101 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown. For more information, call 301-733-2560.

Christ Reformed UCC, Holy Trinity Lutheran and St. Paul's Episcopal will sponsor a community vacation Bible school in Sharpsburg from Sunday, July 14 through Thursday, July 18, at St. Paul's Episcopal, 209 W. Main St. in Sharpsburg. The theme is “Everywhere Fun Fair - Where God's World Comes Together.” A Fun Fair will kick off the event Sunday at 4:30 p.m. with registration, games and a light supper, followed by regular Bible school until 8:30 p.m. Bible school will be Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning with a light supper every evening.

The American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study-3, otherwise known as CPS-3, is about to begin. CPS-3 is the third study using volunteers who donate a small blood sample, then fill out a questionnaire regarding changes in their health and lifestyle over a period of years. If at any time a participant develops cancer, his or her blood sample is used in research, helping the society determine causes and preconditions.  The goal of the society is to register 300,000 people nation-wide.  Today is an opportunity to participate.
