After an excrutiating 4-3 loss to Bermudian Springs in a Class AA Mid Penn playoff game Thursday - the Blue Devils' fifth straight loss after a blazing 13-2 start - a frustrated Sellers kept talking about his team's lack of clutch hits. "We can not put hits together in crucial situations, and when you don't put hits together in crucial situations, you lose," Sellers said matter-of-factly.

WOMEN'S HOOPS BALTIMORE, Md. - Veronica Johnson scored a season-high 23 points Wednesday as Hagerstown Community College notched a 67-45 Maryland JuCo win over Essex Community College. Hagerstown (9-6, 4-3) held a 29-19 halftime advantage, but Essex opened the second half with a 15-5 run to tie the game, 34-34, with just over 13 minutes remaining. The Hawks responded with a more aggressive pressure defense and, from then on, outscored the Knights 33-11 to capture the victory.

PREP VOLLEYBALL Spartans win tourney BELLWOOD, Pa. - McConnellsburg swept host Bellwood-Antis 25-12, 25-13 to win the 12th Annual Lady Blue Devil Tournament on Saturday. The Spartans went 7-1 in pool play, then beat Hickory 25-13, 25-13 to advance to the finals. Jade Anthony had 35 points and 28 kills, Heidi Swope had 31 points and 68 assists, Gretchen Swope had 30 points, Kara Carmack had 36 kills and Lindsay Lininger had 29 kills for the Spartans. BOYS SOCCER JB 4, Bermudian 3 MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Aaron Zimmerman scored the winning goal with 1:24 remaining in regulation to give James Buchanan a Mid-Penn Colonial win over Bermudian Springs on Saturday.

PREP VOLLEYBALL McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Williamsport defeated James Buchanan 17-15, 15-8 to win the the 12th Annual Spartan Volleyball Tournament at McConnellsburg High School. Meggie Miller of Williamsport was named tournament MVP with 50 kills. Lindsey Plotner had 21 kills and Denise Sullivan had 108 assists for Williamsport throughout the day-long tournament. Jess Stough had 130 digs, and Lindsay Crider had 42 service points, and 85 kill assists for James Buchanan. Ashleigh Helfrick had 31 kills, Abby Stoner had 16 blocks, Emily Seville had nine aces on the day for James Buchanan.
