NEEDMORE, Pa. - A Big Cove Tannery, Pa., man died early Saturday in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 522 in Belfast Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg, Pa., said. Johnathan Carbaugh, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The investigation revealed Carbaugh, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was northbound Saturday at 4 a.m. in a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier when his car went off the berm and struck a tree.

BELFAST TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police on Friday were investigating the cause of an explosion at a home in Belfast Township where a 75-year-old Warfordsburg, Pa., woman was found dead, police said. Police went to the house at 1719 Mountain Road Thursday night after getting a 911 call, police said. The back and two sides of the house appeared to have been blown out by an explosion, police said. The victim, Betty Clark, was found lying dead in the living room of the house.

NEEDMORE, Pa. - A 29-year-old Needmore man died shortly after midnight Thursday in a head-on crash on Timber Ridge Road in Belfast Township, Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said. The driver of the second vehicle was listed in critical condition in a Johnstown, Pa. hospital. Joseph Hollenshead was pronounced dead at the scene by Fulton County Coroner Daryl Heckman. Hollenshead was southbound in a 1987 Ford Thunderbird when the car crossed the center line and struck a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Leon J. Mumma, 31, of McConnellsburg, Pa., police said.

19-year-old Hustontown, Pa., woman sexually assaulted McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A 19-year-old Hustontown, Pa., woman told police she was raped on a McConnellsburg street Friday, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The woman said she was walking along South 7th Street when a large unknown male forced her from the road and sexually assaulted her in a dark area between two homes between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police said. The male then fled the scene, state police said.

MAY 4, 1916-JULY 27, 2007 WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Stella V. Hendershot, 91, of Warfordsburg, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa. Born May 4, 1916, in Belfast Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Alonza and Laura Sigel Barnhart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Hendershot, in 1984. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church. She is survived by one daughter, Lois L. Mellott of Warfordsburg; three sons, Paul A. Hendershot, Daryl L. Hendershot and Earl J. Hendershot, all of Warfordsburg; one stepbrother, Leroy Barnhart of Warfordsburg; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Margaret Elizabeth Fletcher, 77, of Warfordsburg, Pa., died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa. Born Dec. 31, 1933, in Fulton County, Belfast Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lee and Effie Taylor Funk and the widow of the late Vearl D. Fletcher who died Dec. 13, 2009. She was a graduate of Warfordsburg High School and a member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church and the Ladies Aid of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- A Harrisonville, Pa., man charged with attempted murder who had evaded police for more than a week was arrested Friday in Chambersburg, Pa., according to Pennsylvania State Police. Gregory Aaron Rouzer, 40, of 1291 Possum Hollow Road, was arrested Friday night without incident near Chambersburg Hospital, Pennsylvania State Trooper Richard Cutchall said. Rouzer had been charged in the shooting of a man outside a man's home that occurred on the morning of Feb. 7. Cutchall said he did not know why Rouzer was in Chambersburg near the hospital and would not elaborate on the details of the arrest, but said Rouzer went into custody without a struggle.

Police log Pa. man injured in 1-vehicle accident CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was injured Saturday night after he lost control of his car on Coldspring Road, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Terril S. Carmack, 41, unknown address, was traveling north on the road in Greene Township at 10:30 p.m. when he lost control of his 1995 Chevrolet Camaro and slid into a large tree, hitting the driver's side door, police said. Upon impact with the tree, the car rotated clockwise about 180 degrees, police said.

Firefighters from three counties Monday night were battling a house fire in the 14000 block of Timber Ridge Road in Belfast Township, according to a Fulton County 911 spokesman. The house was engulfed in flames at one point, the spokesman said. The fire was reported at 6:32 p.m. and firefighters were still working at the scene at 8:32 p.m., the spokesman said. There was no report of injuries, the spokesman said. Firefighters from Morgan County, W.Va., and Washington County were helping to battle the blaze, the spokesman said.

Police log for Dec. 26 $50,000 in damages from garage blaze HALFWAY - A garage fire at 11219 Greenmount Ave. Christmas morning caused an estimated $50,000 worth of damage. The garage was destroyed, but firefighters limited damage to the house, according to Alan L. Matheny, public information officer for The Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway. Matheny said the fire probably started when a stove in the garage was turned on instead of the oven, burning items on the stove.
