15-year-old boy admits to slapping girl, A 15-year-old boy admitted Wednesday in Washington County juvenile court to second-degree assault for slapping a girl in January. Circuit Judge Donald E. Beachley, sitting in juvenile court, ordered that the boy's case be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Caroline County Department of Juvenile Services. He has been placed in a community residential program in that county and is familiar to that department, a Caroline County Department of Juvenile Services representative said.

Second St., Waynesboro, Pa., possession of marijuana, one-year suspended sentence, two years probation.(Boone) Jameson Egan, 40, of 53 Broadway, Apt. 4, possession of cocaine, three-year suspended sentence, two years probation.(Boone) Denise M. Hawkins, 25, of 14898 Bottom Road, Williamsport, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, five-year suspended sentence, three years probation.

Teenager who made bomb threat sent to Noyes Detention Center By MARLO BARNHART marlob@herald-mail.com A 15-year-old boy who admitted calling in a bomb threat to South Hagerstown High School on March 2 was sent to the Noyes Detention Center in Rockville, Md., Wednesday to await his fate. The teenager, who told Washington County Circuit Judge Donald Beachley he would prefer to go home with his mother, also admitted breaking into a Howard Street home on Feb. 20 and stealing a cellular telephone.

pepperb@herald-mail.com Because a Waynesboro, Pa. man who pointed a gun at another car on the highway last October had no prior adult criminal record and had held a job, a Washington County Circuit judge said Monday he would suspend his sentence and place him on probation. Tony Lee Frye Jr., whose last address before his arrest was 8586 Capitol Hill Road in Waynesboro, pleaded guilty in January to charges of second-degree assault and carrying a handgun. He was charged in an October road rage incident in which a gun was pointed at a car carrying three passengers on southbound Interstate 81. Following a tip from one of the car's passengers, police found Frye at Prime Outlets and recovered a .22-caliber pistol loaded with seven live rounds, police said.

tarar@herald-mail.com Washington County Circuit Court Judge Donald Beachley ruled Thursday that parts of former Economic Development Commission Director John Howard's retirement agreement will be disclosed, but Beachley has not yet determined whether the retirement payment is public information. Beachley's ruling came as a result of a suit filed in January against Washington County by former Clear Spring resident Thomas Firey. County officials have refused to reveal the terms of the agreement stating they are confidential.

Charles Herbert Smith, convicted of a first-degree assault that left his seven-week-old son with brain damage, was sentenced Tuesday to 22 years in prison. Washington County Circuit Judge Donald Beachley also sentenced Smith to a 15-year concurrent sentence for child abuse. A reckless endangerment conviction was merged into the child abuse conviction. Smith continued to deny that he injured the child. "I'm not this monster I wouldn't beat up my own son," Smith said just moments before Beachley imposed sentence.

kimy@herald-mail.com The former South Hagerstown High School student who police alleged sold marijuana to star athlete Domonique Richmond in March admitted in juvenile court Wednesday to distributing drugs on school property. Assistant Washington County State's Attorney Steve Kessell agreed to drop the remaining charges of possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana in exchange for the admission. Kessell told Washington County Circuit Judge Donald Beachley, who was sitting in juvenile court, that the 16-year-old was arrested in March after marijuana was found near fellow student Richmond, 18. During an interview with police, the 16-year-old said he bought a $10 bag of marijuana, smoked some of it and took the rest to school.
