Army Pvt. Holly R. Koontz, daughter of Barbara Vincent of Hagerstown and granddaughter of Linda Koontz of Williamsport, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Koontz, a 2005 graduate of Williamsport High School, earned distinction as an honor graduate. Army Pvt. Jessie L. Tolbert, son of Jan Warner of Ford Avenue in Boonsboro, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Navy Seaman Recruit Jacob M. Hall, son of Debra D. Deluna of Middletown, Md., and David F. Bussard of Tucson, Ariz.

Navy Seaman Recruit Orry K. Clark, son of Hunter Clark, stepson of Cecilia Clark and grandson of J.D. and Sylvia Clark, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Clark is a 2005 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and is now stationed at NAS Pensacola, Fla., where he is in training to become an air traffic controller. Army Pvt. Joshua R. Shambaugh, son of Richard Shambaugh of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Army Pvt. Matthew S. Stevens, son of Lorie Tedrick of Hagerstown, graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Stevens is a 2007 graduate of Smithsburg High School. Air Force Maj. Preston R. Wallech, son of Miller and Esther Wallech of Hagerstown, has arrived for duty at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark. Wallech, a flight commander with 16 years of military service, is assigned to the 19th Airlift Wing. Wallech graduated from North Hagerstown High School, attended Hagerstown Community College and then joined the Air Force and completed his bachelor's degree through the University of Maryland.
