A few years down the road, maybe we'll see Hagerstown's Christian Binford pitching for the Kansas City Royals at Camden Yards against the Baltimore Orioles. The 18-year-old Binford signed a contract Friday with Kansas City and the ink on the pact officially dried Monday. Already, Binford is in Surprise, Ariz., with the Royals' Rookie League team and will stay there until the season is completed Aug. 28. He then will participate in the Fall Instructional League. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed, but it covers seven years and also includes a college tuition package.

Now barely an adult, Bolland, 19, of Boonsboro, Md. has combined his childhood pastimes and turned them into a business. With support from his parents, Fred and Pat Bolland, the teen opened Tim's Baseball Cards in September in a roomy store which fronts on Waynesboro's square at the corner of East Main Street and South Church Street.

andrews@herald-mail.com You probably won't mistake Jay Wolt for the true Hagerstown Suns. On their baseball cards, many players, in their 20s, are posed in batting stances or holding their mitts. On his card, Wolt, 46, is wearing an unbuttoned Suns' jersey, a Suns' cap and sunglasses. He's kneeling and holding his Pomeranian, Pierre. Nonetheless, on paper, Wolt is one of the gang. Winning an Internet auction earned him a spot on his own baseball card in the Suns' 2004 team set, which came out a few weeks ago. He paid $203.

WASHINGTON COUNTY Tucked in a corner, away from cases of Chinese ceramics, Battle of Antietam artifacts and Eastern European religious icons, the collection of signatures in a Boonsboro museum's visitors book bears witness to admirers near and far. "What a delightful surprise!" a Portland, Ore., visitor wrote in the Boonsborough Museum of History guest book Sunday. A steady stream of people visited the museum - which is stuffed to overflowing with Civil War memorabilia, historic letters, ancient bones and other curios from the personal collection of Doug Bast - on the second day of the third-annual Washington County Museum Ramble.
