CLEAR SPRING - A ham and chicken feed will be held Friday, Aug. 19, at the Clear Spring American Legion picnic grounds. The doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $12 each or two for $20. Each meal includes ham, marinated grilled chicken breast, potato salad, baked beans, rolls, fruit salad, sodas and an open bar. The event is sponsored by Clear Spring American Legion Unit No. 222 to benefit local children and youth projects and U.S. veterans.

District 12 Ruritan will host a crab feed Saturday, Sept. 11. Doors open at 5 p.m. with all-you-can-eat crabs served between 6 and 9 p.m. The menu also includes chicken, corn on the cob, coleslaw, baked beans, cold draft and sodas. The "Krab and Karaoke Dance Party" will be Saturday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 10 p.m. at Hager Hall Conference and Event Center at 901 Dual Highway in Hagerstown. Tickets cost $45 and include all-you-can-eat food and drink. The menu includes crabs, fried chicken, corn on the cob, garden salad, coleslaw, baked beans, rolls, hush puppies, assorted desserts, tea, water, soda and draft beer. A cash bar will be available. National Night Out set for Tuesday, Aug. 4 The local observance of the 10th annual National Night Out celebration will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4, in Hancock's Widmeyer Park. This year, everyone can expect the usual family fun and a few extras. The K-9 demonstrations, child identity card processing, and fire and safety demonstrations will be supplemented with blood pressure screenings, water slides and a moon bounce. The municipal swimming pool will be open from 6:30 to 9 p.m. free of charge, and food will be available in the Lions Club Pavilion (in addition to burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks, there is usually fresh corn on the cob)
