BOONSBORO - A Pumpkin Patch festival will begin Saturday at Mount Nebo United Methodist Church, 134 S. Main St., and continue through Saturday, Oct. 30. The festival will be held daily from 10 a.m to 6 p.m., except for Sundays, when it will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. For $5, participants will get a small pumpkin, a station to paint the pumpkin, a story, face painting and a goodie bag. There will be other surprises and a bake sale of homemade items....

The 19th annual reunion of the descendants of William H. Collins Jr. and Charlotte Law Collins was held Sept. 4 at Red Run Park in Waynesboro. Approximately 57 family members enjoyed a picnic lunch, followed by an auction and a bake sale to raise money for the next reunion. There were games for the young and the young at heart. A door prize was won by Kim Renner. The next reunion will be Sept. 2, 2012, at Red Run Park.

A yard and bake sale will be held Saturday, May 12, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stonecroft Apartments, a housing unit for senior citizens. Items for sale include household items, jewelry and women's bicycles. The event is sponsored by the Stonecroft Tenants Association to raise funds for activities for seniors. The apartment complex is on King Crest Boulevard off Robinwood Drive.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The annual Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church Fall Festival is set for Saturday, Sept. 22, from 8 a.m. to 2 pm. Events include the church auction, car wash and a chicken barbecue. Other activities include yard sales, bake sale, children's games, pony rides, scarecrow-making, pumpkin painting, hayrides, dunking booth and lots of food. Girl Scouts hold food drive at St. Paul's Church The Girl Scouts who meet at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown recently participated in a food drive. Collecting the equivalent of 40 Girl Scout cookie cases, the group is sure to help some local folks this holiday season. The food drive, sponsored by St. Paul's, was the Girl Scouts' community service project. There is still time for you to help. If you are interested in donating nonperishable food items, call the church office at 301-791-1738.

Haven Lutheran Church, at 1035 Haven Road in Hagerstown, will hold its third annual community yard and bake sale Saturday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit Holly Place and Habitat for Humanity.   The church is offering table space for $20, which will be donated to Holly Place and Habitat for Humanity. What you sell you keep. There will be a bake sale and other food offerings along with hand-crafted items. For more information, call 301-733-5056. Dinner planned Salem Reformed Church, at 13182 Salem Church Road, will hold a hog maw dinner Saturday at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $5 for those ages 5 to 12.   The dinner includes hog maw, coleslaw, applesauce, a drink and dessert.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- A series of fundraisers will be held this summer to benefit the family of Mark Johnston, a former Jefferson County police officer who died last month at the age of 44 after battling a brain tumor. A benefit concert will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at Jefferson High School in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., to help the family pay medical bills, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. Chasing Grace, a Christian band based in Fulks Run, Va., is scheduled to perform.

Members of the Manor Church Senior Citizens Club held their regular covered-dish dinner and meeting Oct. 1. It was a productive day, starting with a bake sale of goodies made by club members. Proceeds from the bake sale will go toward the club's Christmas dinner, which will be Dec. 3 at Washington Square United Methodist Church at 538 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown. Pastor Jay Zepp gave the blessing for the dinner, and the business meeting was opened by the club president. All stood to pledge the American flag.
