Fistere-Ritchie Krystal Dyan Ritchie and Steven Charles Fistere were married Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, on the beach of Casa Ybel Resort on Sanibel Island, Fla. The bride is the daughter of Sam and Linda Ritchie of Hagerstown. The bridegroom is the son of Danny and Wendy Fistere of Poolesville, Md. The bride is a 2001 graduate of South Hag-erstown High School and graduated with honors from Shippensburg University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Brunner-Hartt Stephen Joseph Hartt and Rebekah Ann Brunner announce their engagement. Ms. Brunner is the daughter of Christopher and Holly Brunner of Hagerstown. She is a 2000 graduate of Grace Academy, a 2002 graduate of Hagerstown Community College and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Frostburg State University in 2004. She is employed as a marketing assistant with Skelly and Loy Inc. Mr. Hartt is the son of Joseph and Rebecca Hartt of State Line, Pa. He is a 2001 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School and plans to graduate in 2006 with a bachelor of arts degree in graphics design from Shippensburg University.

CHICAGO - Kaplan University celebrated the graduation of its winter 2009 class during a live ceremony Jan. 31 in Miami. Five-time Grammy Award-winning recording artist John Legend served as the commencement speaker. The following local students were awarded degrees: Andrew Davis of Frederick, Md., was awarded an associate of applied science in criminal justice. Deidra Boykin of Hagerstown was awarded a bachelor of science in paralegal studies. Tammy Walker of Hagerstown was awarded a bachelor of science in business administration.

The University System of Maryland at Hagerstown celebrated the sweat, toil and sacrifice of this year's graduating class on Wednesday, while giving out awards to some students. The annual graduation celebration honored the 159 USMH students getting degrees from USM schools that offer classes in Hagerstown. Some students already have received their degrees from their home universities; some will soon. This was USMH's largest graduating class in its six-year history, according to Jamie Bushong, a spokeswoman for the downtown Hagerstown campus.
