BALTIMORE - The following area residents were among the nearly 900 students from College of Notre Dame of Maryland who received degrees during the College's 113th Commencement on May 24 at the Baltimore Convention Center: Debra Lynn Dreisonstok, of Walkersville, Md., received a bachelor of science in Nursing, Cum Laude. Lisa Denise Block, of Martinsburg, W.Va., received a bachelor of science in Nursing, Magna Cum Laude. Pamela Scott Hexter, of Frederick, Md., received a bachelor of science in nursing, Magna Cum Laude.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University announced this week that it is offering in-state tuition to Maryland residents for 10 specific degree programs through an agreement with the Maryland Higher Education Commission. According to a news release, for Maryland residents who qualify, the 10 degree programs offered at Shepherd's in-state tuition rates are: o Bachelor in fine arts degree in art with a concentration in photography and computer imagery o Bachelor's degree in computer and information sciences with a concentration in networking and security o Bachelor's degree in computer and information technology with a concentration in Web programming and design o Bachelor's degree in environmental studies with a concentration in aquatic science o Bachelor's degree in environmental studies with a concentration in environmental engineering o Bachelor's degree in environmental studies with a concentration in environmental sustainability o Bachelor's degree in environmental studies with a concentration in historic preservation o Bachelor's degree in history with a concentration in Civil War and 19th-century America o Bachelor's degree in recreation and leisure studies with a concentration in sports communication o Bachelor's degree in recreation and leisure studies with a concentration in sports marketing

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The following area students were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Randolph College: Emma Bartholomew of Hagerstown is a member of the Class of 2014. Fistere-Ritchie Krystal Dyan Ritchie and Steven Charles Fistere were married Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, on the beach of Casa Ybel Resort on Sanibel Island, Fla. The bride is the daughter of Sam and Linda Ritchie of Hagerstown. The bridegroom is the son of Danny and Wendy Fistere of Poolesville, Md. The bride is a 2001 graduate of South Hag-erstown High School and graduated with honors from Shippensburg University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Shank-Aaron John and Sharon Shank of Boonsboro, announce the engagement of their daughter, Carrie Mildred Shank, to Robert Patrick Aaron II, son of Jim and Tammy Aaron of Hagerstown. Miss Shank is a 2002 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and received a Bachelor of Science in business administration and industrial and organizational psychology from High Point University in 2006. She is employed as a human resources assistant at Susquehanna Bancshares. Mr. Aaron is a 2001 graduate of Smithsburg High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in exercise science from Muskingum College in 2005.
