WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- A revised policy for how school facilities can be rented and used will go before the Waynesboro Area School Board in coming weeks for a decision on what should be incorporated. Policy updates coordinate with the completion of construction at Waynesboro Area Senior High School. That construction gave the school a new, two-story auditorium. Board members said Tuesday they want to continue renting facilities on a "first come, first served" basis. "Making one group more favored as a priority, we don't think it's fair," Board President K. Marilyn Smith said.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Devyn Stotelmyer relied on a Waynesboro Area Senior High School building map several times on Sunday, despite navigating the school every day as a student there. It's easy to understand Devyn's moments of confusion. Hallways and walls have changed frequently during the renovation and expansion project that pushed the school to 288,000 square feet on four levels. That project officially started with a groundbreaking ceremony in January 2007. It should be mostly wrapped up by the start of the 2009-10 school year, Principal Christopher Dennis said.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Waynesboro Area Senior High School students are working on a "Big" production to be performed this weekend in their new, big auditorium. Dress rehearsals this week served as final preparation for "Big: The Musical," which can be seen in the school's 1,600-seat auditorium Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. The cast and crew worked through forgotten words, delayed set changes and microphones with dead batteries. "This is what tech week is for. We'll get all the bugs out," said Maverick McKee, who plays company owner Mr. MacMillan.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Students said that performing for the first time in the new auditorium at Waynesboro Area Senior High School was like having a makeover. "Like when a person gets new clothes or dresses better," said Katy Martin, a junior choir singer. "It just makes you feel a lot better. " Waynesboro students and faculty put on the first concert in the school's new auditorium Sunday, opening doors to hundreds for the annual holiday show, "Christmas on Broadway. " The auditorium currently has 1,200 seats; 400 more seats are to be added when its balcony section is finished.
