Nancy Ann Perrow, 57, of Hagerstown, went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 29, 2013. Born July 1, 1955, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Edward and Arbutus Mary (Abbe) Hollinger. Nancy was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Liberty University and was teacher at Grace Academy, with 20 plus years of service. She was a member of the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. “Bo” Perrow; one son, Justin Perrow and wife, Danielle, of Hagerstown; one daughter, Elizabeth Hayne and husband, Charlie, of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Donald C. Hollinger and wife, Susan, of Greencastle, Pa., and three grandchildren.

RISING SUN, Md. - The Federal Little League 11-12 All-Stars bounced back from their first postseason defeat by rapping out 16 hits in a 14-4 victory over Frederick National in the losers' bracket of the Maryland State Tournament on Sunday. Alex Courtney had three hits, including two home runs, and five RBIs, while Phillip Pietro and winning pitcher Aaron Showe also had three hits apiece. Pietro singled in the first inning and scored on a single by Courtney. In the second, Pietro doubled and scored on the first of Courtney's two homers for a 3-0 Federal lead.

ARBUTUS, Md. - Halfway Little League got the only run of the game in its first at-bat, then closed the game with a most unlikely double play to beat Frederick National 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Maryland 11-12-year-old Little League Tournament. In the first, Jordan DuVall led off with a single, and two walks loaded the bases with no outs. After a strikeout, Ronnie May was hit by a pitch to drive in the run. Nick Adenhart took over from there, striking out 14 and walking only one in a one-hitter.

MARCH 26, 1934-OCT. 23, 2009 Austin Grover Durbin, 75, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Washington County Hospital. Born March 26, 1934, in Brownsville, Md., he was the son of the late William Edgar and Sylvia Arbutus Haines Durbin. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Frito-Lay and previously was employed by Fairchild Corp. He was a member of the Funkstown American Legion and AMVETS Post 10. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening and spoiling his grandchildren.

NOV. 23, 1927-FEB. 9, 2009 BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Imogene "Jean" Arbutus Golliday, 81, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Autumn Acres in Berkeley Springs. Born Nov. 23, 1927, in Hampshire County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank S. and Ethel Kidwell Allen. Her husband, Homer Curtis Golliday, died in 2003. She was a member of Berkeley Springs Fire Department Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by four sons, Roger D. Allen of Hancock, Ronnie L. O'Brien and Scott C. Golliday, both of Berkeley Springs, and Kevin L. Golliday of Augusta, W.Va.

Born Sept. 16, 1920, in Morehead, Ky., she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Lou Swim Hammond. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leedoyle Ruleman Sr., in 1984. She retired as a cook from the public school system in White Lake, Wis. She was a member of Gospel Light Tabernacle, Berkeley Springs.

Born Saturday, Feb. 20, 1926, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Paul Dullabaun and the late Pearl Lumm Dullabaun. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Barkdoll, and also her second husband, Charles E. Deaner. She was employed with C&P Telephone, retiring after many years of service.

Herring Verdier, 86, a resident of The Village of Laurel Run, and formerly of 3294 Old Route 30, Orrtanna, Pa., died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at the nursing home. Born Oct. 10, 1922, in Charlottesville, Va., she was the daughter of the late George Robert Herring and Lillian Coleman Herring Shutter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles James Verdier Sr., on Jan. 7, 1980.

Violet Arbutus Kemp, 88, of 947 Chestnut St. in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday evening, Nov. 4, 2011, peacefully at her home. Born Jan. 8, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harlan Thomas and Katie Virginia Kreglo Harr. She was employed by Interwoven Hosiery of Hagerstown, and as a clerk by the Sunshine Laundromat in the South End Shopping Center, retiring in 2003. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon E. Smith and husband, Richard, Faye L. Stottlemyer and husband Butch, and Linda C. Kemp; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty Ann Nilson, 81, of Hurlock, Md., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Born Sept. 21, 1931, in Arbutus in Baltimore County, Md., she graduated from Catonsville High School in 1948. She was the daughter of the late Grove Brosnan and Evelyn Stevens Brosnan, and sister of the late Donald Grove Brosnan. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Charles Nilson; a daughter, Teri Nilson Baird of Colorado; a son, Craig Nilson of Clear Spring, Md.; and two grandsons, Christopher and Curtis Nilson of Clear Spring.
