"I am so blessed to have a snow angel, Tim, on Halifax Drive. Miraculously, he appears with every snow. " — Hagerstown "On Thursday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m., my husband, who's in his 70s, had to shovel out our long driveway on Route 67, which is Rohrersville Road, to get to work. When he was halfway done, a white Chevy pulled over and a young guy 21 years old got out with a shovel and helped him finish, and even cleaned out around our mailboxes. We didn't get his name, but he was not only a snow angel, he was a blessing to us. His kindness was overwhelming, and we want to God bless him. Thank you. " — Boonsboro "I'd like to thank my snow angel, who is a neighbor.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Although Jeremy Guthrie graciously accepted his teammates' postgame high-fives and back slaps, the right-hander knew he didn't deserve all the credit for the last-place Baltimore Orioles' third straight dominant win over the Angels. Guthrie realizes Los Angeles is mired in an offensive slump that made his good stuff look even better. Guthrie allowed four hits while pitching into the ninth inning, and two relievers finished the Orioles' 1-0 victory Sunday to complete Baltimore's six-game season sweep of the struggling Angels.

"I would like to congratulate the Hilltop Fellowship Church in Clear Spring, Md., for the wonderful community outreach they hosted on Saturday. It was very well-organized, and I know a lot of hard work went into it. They had very nice sponsors, also. May God's blessings be to you all. " - Hagerstown "I'm calling about the people that's calling about people stealing items from their yards. The people that are doing that aren't intelligent enough to read Mail Call. " - Clear Spring "I would like to thank Cindy Shank for her recipe on cookie-crusted peach cobbler.

HALFWAY -- The Halfway 11-12 All-Stars showed all the guts and determination they needed to steal the Maryland District 1 crown from Conococheague, the defending Maryland state champion, on Thursday. After losing to Valley on July 9, Halfway manager Les Martin spent the next week retooling the mindset of his team. It took a little Knute Rockne for motivation and some Mother Teresa for comfort. And he wrapped it up with some divine intervention. "I didn't expect this after we lost," Martin said after Halfway beat Conococheague 15-3 to win the league's fourth district title.

HALFWAY -- Time marches on, even when you're dealing with loss. The heartache slowly heals, the tears begin to dry and one day follows the next. But the memories often remain untouched. That was the case Saturday morning, as hundreds of people gathered at Martin L. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park to honor Nick Adenhart. The Williamsport High School graduate made his family and community proud, pitching his way to the major leagues with a lightning arm. But his promising career with the Los Angeles Angels was cut short when he lost his life in a car accident.

The Heritage Academy varsity baseball team visited Conococheague Elementary School recently to take part in Child Evangelism Fellowship's Good News Club. The group meets at the school once a week to teach the students Bible stories and verses, and to play games and spend time with the students. While the baseball team was there, Assistant Coach Bob Smith taught the students a story about salvation through Jesus Christ. Then the players spent time showing the students the fundamentals of playing baseball.
