“Many thanks to our snow angel of South End, Hagerstown, River Bob. I am on my own, with a bad back, and cannot shovel snow, but no matter how cold it is or how deep the snow, he shovels my sidewalk and cleans off my car. He helps all his neighbors. Again, many thanks to our South End snow angel, River Bob. Bless you.” — Hagerstown “My snow angel, Rocky, really did a good job on my pavement. I would like to thank him so much.” — Betty, Hagerstown “I’d like to thank my snow angel, Tom, next door to me, for just clearing my driveway out. Thanks a lot.” — Kingswood Terrace “This is for the snow angels.

Three up, three down for Davey Johnson. Dan Haren pitched two-hit ball through 7 1/3 innings and the Los Angeles Angels beat Washington 1-0 Wednesday on an unearned run to sweep Johnson’s team in his first series as Nationals manager. “I’ve loved this team from spring training on, and I love them even more now,” Johnson said. “It’s a great ballclub. We’ve just got a few things we’ve got to straighten out, and we’ll be fine. “It was a tough series, and we got hit with a few injuries.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - One man's pain could become the break in Nick Adenhart's career. Adenhart, the Williamsport High graduate, allowed three runs and four hits in four innings in the Angels' 5-4 win over Arizona on Saturday. All the runs off Adenhart came on a second-inning homer by Jeff Salazar. Prior to the game, the Angels announced that ace right-hander John Lackey would be out 3-4 weeks with a right triceps strain. Lackey's injury, plus the shoulder injury to Kelvim Escobar, has left the door wide open for the final spot in the Angels rotation.

Are you expecting a column filled with holiday sap? It's my Yuletide duty because I truly believe Christmas is a special time of year. It's a time to reflect and focus on the kindness we extend to one another. cont. from lifestyle My doorbell rang today. When I answered it, I saw two smiling third-grade girls standing on my front porch. "Can Michael come out and play?" the girls chimed. These are the words that only angels could say, I thought to myself. For you see, my 9-year-old son, Michael, has Down syndrome and this was his first invitation to play outside with other classmates.

email@example.com Apparently, an injured Nick Adenhart is better than no Nick Adenhart at all. That seemed to be the philosophy of the Anaheim Angels, who selected the Williamsport High starting pitcher Monday in the 14th round of the annual major-league draft. The Angels made the pick, even though Adenhart injured his pitching elbow on May 11 and faces "Tommy John" ligament replacement surgery and a long rehabilitation process. The 14th-round selection fell well under where Adenhart was projected to go in the two-day, 50-round extravaganza.
