Authorities expect to temporarily close Marsh Pike at Spring Valley Drive to clear vehicle wreckage from an accident that happened at about 9:05 a.m. Thursday, a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher said. The dispatcher said no one was injured seriously.

Washington County Sheriff's deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on Longmeadow Road across the street from Martin's Fine Furniture at 12:28 p.m. Monday, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. Nobody was injured and the incident did not affect traffic, the supervisor said. Police cleared the scene at 1:11 p.m., the supervisor said. — Caleb Calhoun, Mobile Journalist

Alexis Jarman, the 16-year-old Boonsboro girl who was critically injured in a traffic accident last month, is making a slow recovery at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, her aunt said Monday. Tonya Jarman said her niece underwent a successful surgery on Friday, and was taken out of Critical Care on Sunday. “She's better,” Tonya Jarman said. “It's a slow recovery, but she's out of Critical Care. Her next stop will be rehabilitation.” Tonya Jarman said Alexis no longer is on life support and can speak “a few words, but not much.” “She's still medicated for pain,” Tonya Jarman said.

One person was injured in a wreck on South Main Street in Boonsboro around 12:25 p.m. Thursday, Officer Shawn Faith of the Boonsboro Police Department said. The accident happened when a pick-up truck collided with the back of a car just south of Potomac and Saint Paul streets. The driver of the car was taken to Meritus Medical Center in an ambulance from Boonsboro Emergency Medical Services. The southbound lane of South Main Street was briefly closed due to the wreck, but it reopened around 12:45.

A Martinsburg woman died Saturday after the Chevy Cavalier she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer on southbound Interstate 81, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department. Kimberly Bail, 53, of 100 Talbott Ave., was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police news release. The accident on southbound I-81 near the 15.6-mile marker was reported at 9:13 a.m. Saturday, according to Berkeley County Emergency Services. A tractor-trailer was driving south on I-81 when a blue Chevy Cavalier tried to merge onto I-81 south at the 16-mile marker, police said.

An accident has been reported on Remington Drive, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. Police were responding to the accident at 10:17 a.m. Monday. Remington Drive is off Battle Creek Boulevard south of Hagerstown, near Md. 65 (Sharpsburg Pike).

A Waynesboro, Pa., man accused of hitting a woman with his car and killing her in August waived his preliminary hearing on Tuesday. Benjamin Rodger Savage, 31, remains incarcerated in the Franklin County (Pa.) Jail. He was transported to the county courthouse Tuesday, where he met privately with a public defender and chose to waive the preliminary hearing before appearing before a judge. His case will be scheduled for mandatory arraignment. Waynesboro police charged Savage with homicide by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving.

A Mercersburg man died Friday afternoon when the motorcycle he was operating collided head-on with a sport utility vehicle in Peters Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said. John Kevin Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a state police news release. Troopers said the accident occurred at about 3:20 p.m., when Lynch tried to pass a vehicle as he was heading north on a Suzuki DRZ 400S in the 13700 block of Dickeys Road. The Suzuki collided head-on with a southbound 2003 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Robert E. Pine, also of Mercersburg, troopers said.

A young girl was struck by a pickup truck on Leitersburg Pike near Marsh Pike on Friday morning, according to Maryland State Police Trooper Tim Kocevar. The girl was standing on the shoulder on the northbound side of Leitersburg Pike and ran into the travel lane, Kocevar said. She was hit by a Ford F-150 that was traveling north, he said. The girl was taken to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown following the accident, Kocevar said. The accident, which happened shortly before  8 a.m. , remained under investigation.

A 51-year-old woman was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Tuesday afternoon after her vehicle overturned on U.S. 340 near Keep Tryst Road, according to the Maryland State Police. The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, police said. The eastbound lanes of U.S. 340 were closed for 90 minutes after the accident was reported at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

An employee was killed Thursday in an industrial accident at Manitowoc Crane Group, according to a company official and state police. Rickie Lee Grimsley was killed when he was pinned between a parked crane and a crane that was being moved by another employee, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release. No age and hometown for Grimsley were available Thursday night. Wayne Bunch, Manitowoc's vice president of human resources Americas, confirmed earlier Thursday that a worker had died in the accident.

A man killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident has been identified by Maryland State Police. Christopher R. Stabile, 37, of Olney, Md., apparently lost control of the motorcycle he was driving north of Thurmont, ejecting him and a female passenger, according to a state police news release. The female passenger was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, the release said. The motorcycle was heading south on Md. 550, north of Kelbaugh Road in Sabillasville, Md., when Stabile lost control on a curve in the road, police said.

Northbound lanes of Interstate 81 at the Potomac River bridge near the Maryland-West Virginia border were closed for about an hour Monday night after a tractor-trailer lost control and climbed a walkway, according to Washington County Emergency Services. The accident was reported at about 6:30 p.m. One person was transported to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown with minor injuries, according to a dispatcher. One northbound lane was reopened by 7:45 p.m.

A preliminary hearing for a Greencastle, Pa., man accused of fatally striking a woman with his car has been delayed. Benjamin Rodger Savage, 31, is charged with homicide by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving, Waynesboro police said in a news release. Savage's preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, Chambersburg, was continued until Sept. 3 at 1 p.m., according to online court records.
