A woman was killed and another injured last week in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Point of Rocks and Lander roads, Maryland State Police in Frederick County said. The crash occurred at 6:09 p.m. Thursday when the driver of a 2003 Kia Sorento, Linda M. Weddle, 65, address not given, failed to stop at a stop sign on Lander Road, police said. The Kia went into the intersection and was hit on the passenger's side by a westbound 2012 Ford Escape driven by Kay A. Brown, 54, address not given, police said.

charlestown@herald-mail.com CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Jefferson County, W.Va., man was charged Tuesday with two counts of DUI felony death following a car accident in the Shannondale area on New Year's Eve in which the man's brother and another man were killed, according to court records. Darryl Wayne Dodson Jr., 22, of Millville, W.Va., was being held Tuesday afternoon in Eastern Regional Jail on $50,000 bond, a jail spokesman said. In addition to the DUI charges filed against Dodson, he also faces charges of reckless driving, failure to maintain control, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and no operators, according to Jefferson County Magistrate Court records.

Authorities expect to temporarily close Marsh Pike at Spring Valley Drive to clear vehicle wreckage from an accident that happened at about 9:05 a.m. Thursday, a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher said. The dispatcher said no one was injured seriously.

An accident has been reported on Remington Drive, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. Police were responding to the accident at 10:17 a.m. Monday. Remington Drive is off Battle Creek Boulevard south of Hagerstown, near Md. 65 (Sharpsburg Pike).

Police responded to an accident on Jefferson Boulevard at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. However, the road was clear by 1:54. The accident happened near Smithsburg.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Two men died early Saturday after the car in which they were riding went off the road and struck a tree off Sollenberger Road in Hamilton Township, Pa., according to a Pennsylvania State Police press release. The driver, Jason S. Lightner, 32, of Chambersburg, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:40 a.m. accident by Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner. The passenger, Michael J. Jackson, 32, also of Chambersburg, was pronounced dead at Chambersburg Hospital shortly after the accident, according to a press release from Conner's office.

Washington County Sheriff's deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on Longmeadow Road across the street from Martin's Fine Furniture at 12:28 p.m. Monday, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. Alexis Jarman, the 16-year-old Boonsboro girl who was critically injured in a traffic accident last month, is making a slow recovery at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, her aunt said Monday. Tonya Jarman said her niece underwent a successful surgery on Friday, and was taken out of Critical Care on Sunday. “She's better,” Tonya Jarman said. “It's a slow recovery, but she's out of Critical Care. Her next stop will be rehabilitation.” Tonya Jarman said Alexis no longer is on life support and can speak “a few words, but not much.” “She's still medicated for pain,” Tonya Jarman said.

The slow lane of eastbound Interstate 70 near the U.S. 40 exit east of Hagerstown was closed for about an hour Monday because of a single-vehicle accident, according to Washington County Emergency Services. One person was reported to have back and neck pain from the accident, which was reported at 11:31 a.m. Monday, a 911 supervisor said. The driver of the pickup that fatally struck a trash collection truck worker on Dominion Road near Gerrardstown, W.Va., on March 7 has died, police said this week. Stephen J. Vigh Jr., 75, of Gerrardstown, passed away at his residence on May 1, according to his obituary. The trash collection worker, Jeremy L. Tabler, 30, died at City Hospital in Martinsburg after he was struck by the F-250 truck that Vigh was driving. State Police Trooper W.M. Roden, who investigated the crash, said Vigh was cleared of any wrongdoing in the accident.

A Falling Waters, W.Va., man who was seriously injured in a crash involving multiple motorcycles on Interstate 70 Saturday afternoon in the Indian Springs area was still being treated at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore on Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said. Mark D. Stephens was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon at the hospital, the spokeswoman said. According to Maryland State Police, a 2008 Harley-Davidson operated by Matthew L. Adams, 42, of Martinsburg, W.Va., slowed down and was struck by Mark D. Stephens' motorcycle from behind.

The woman who was killed Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Berkeley County was identified as Brandy Barraza-Flores, 29, of Greencastle, Pa., the Berkeley County's Sheriff's Office said Saturday. Barraza-Flores was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred Thursday at about 9:35 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near the Tabler Station Road exit, police had said. The vehicle was northbound when the driver lost control of it, police had said.

Two people were killed Saturday in a crash involving multiple motorcycles that shut down eastbound Interstate 70 near Exit 9 in the Indian Springs area for more than four hours, according to Maryland State Police. The accident happened when a motorcycle slowed down and struck two other motorcycles, said Sgt. Phillip Martin of Maryland State Police. Megan R. Daymude, 19, of Inwood, W.Va., who was a passenger on a 2004 Harley-Davidson operated by Mark B. Stephens, 23, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died at the scene of the accident, troopers said.

A 12-year-old girl who was injured in a traffic accident that killed her father Tuesday on Interstate 70 near the Washington-Frederick county line has been discharged from Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday night. Macey N. Gammon was steering a disabled vehicle that her father and 11-year-old brother were pushing on I-70 east when they were struck from behind by a vehicle at about 6:45 p.m., according to Maryland State Police.

A Hagerstown woman who was injured in a traffic accident Monday was listed in critical condition Tuesday at Meritus Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said. Tiffany Souders, 21, of Wayne Avenue, was injured shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, when the 1998 Honda Civic that she was driving on Md. 66 near the intersection of Pondsville Road collided head-on with a pickup truck, Maryland State Police 1st Sgt. Kevin Lewis said. The Civic was traveling south on Md. 66, which is Mapleville Road, when it swerved to miss another vehicle that was stopped in the roadway preparing to make a turn, Lewis said.

Eastbound Interstate 70 at Exit 3 to Md. 144 (Main Street) in Hancock was closed for about six hours Tuesday morning due to an accident involving a tractor-trailer, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. Police responded to the accident shortly after 6:45 a.m. Tuesday. The eastbound lanes reopened at about 12:40 p.m., the supervisor said. No one was injured in the accident, according to the supervisor.
