The Washington County Commission on Aging will hold an AARP driver-safety program Thursday, Aug. 25, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Hagerstown Community College’s Valley Mall center. The instructor will be named at a later date. The class is designed to help drivers improve their skills. MAY 27, 1936-FEB. 18, 2011 Paul Mongan, 74, of Hagerstown, Md., went home to be with the Lord Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at his home. He was born May 27, 1936, son of the late Paul Edward Mongan and Mabel Catherine McCauley. He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a management consultant and worked for several years in the Orlando, Fla., area. Paul was a member of AARP and a member of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church in Martinsburg, W.Va.

AARP to meet Washington County AARP Chapter 623 will meet Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the auditorium at Western Maryland Hospital Center. Wayne Taylor, a certified fraud investigator, will be the guest speaker. He will talk about scams. The chapter board will meet at noon. TOPS Chapter 0462 The TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0462 in Smithsburg had a fantastic year, with everyone in the chapter becoming a thinner winner. Dale H. had the most weight loss for the chapter at 52 pounds.
