Mail Call - Sept. 11

September 10, 2013

“I live on San Mar Road, and some of these expensive vehicles are coming down through Mount Lena, 70 mph. Older people are out on the road, whatever, 70 mph, showing off their big, expensive vehicles. The police better come before someone’s hurt.”
— Mount Lena

“I’m calling because I work for the City of Hagerstown, and where I work, they’ve decided to put in cameras for our security, but they placed them facing inward, not outward, for security reasons. I myself did not serve in the military to come back and have cameras faced at me, to see what I’m doing. I have done nothing wrong and I don’t deserve it. I’m not an inmate or a prisoner or a guard. This is wrong, and it needs to be addressed.”
— Hagerstown

“Yesterday evening during dinnertime, I received a phone call, a recorded call, from John Delaney. He can be assured that my family and I will not support him or any of his endeavors in the future. No calls during dinnertime, or anytime, from these politicians.”
— Hagerstown

“There’s a big problem with helping the countries out in the Middle East. After we help them out and save them from another country, they still hate us just as much as they ever did. They do not like America, they would like to see us buried, and if we would stay out of there, they could kill each other off. We wouldn’t have any problems with them then, because they hate each other just as much as they hate us. So we should be staying out of the Middle East, and let them do what they want to with each other.”
— Sharpsburg

“This is Saturday, Aug. 31. I’m reading the front page of the newspaper, where it says ‘Downtown stadium still planned.’ I just can’t believe that David Gysberts would want to put a baseball field down in the downtown area of Hagerstown, where they say we can’t even control traffic for a fair at the fairgrounds. How are we going to control traffic for a baseball team? I’m not against baseball whatsoever, but I think they should reconsider and have a amphitheater built over at the old ball stadium, indoor/outdoor, and go down to Vienna, Va., to where that town, where they have an indoor/outdoor amphitheater and have all types of music and things.”
— Hagerstown

“Postmaster, Hagerstown, Md., you need to get the mailboxes painted in the Hagerstown area. Back in my day, they never looked so trashy.”
— Maugansville
