Morning MoJo report - Sept. 10

Here is the Morning MoJo Report for Tuesday, Sept. 10:

* As of 7:30 a.m., traffic was sluggish on I-270 southbound and I-495 in both directions, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation's interactive mapping page on its website, but was running fine on all the other interstates throughout the area.

* On the MARC Train, Train 892 is operating two cars short this morning due to a mechanical issue, according to the Maryland Transit Administration's website at http://mta.maryland.gov.

* The light rail, local bus service, Metro subway, commuter buses, and mobility service are running on time and operating on their regular schedules, according to the MTA website.

* The weather today is expected to be very warm and humid with times of clouds and sun, a high of 90 degrees, and winds around 5 miles per hour, according to the AccuWeather forecast on the HMTV6 weather website at www.herald-mail.com/hmtv6/weather/. Tonight, it's expected to be partly cloudy, warm, and humid with a low of 70 degrees and winds around 3 mph.

* Traffic on the I-70 westbound bridge over Conococheague Creek has been shifted to the inside portion of the bridge so work crews can begin reconstruction on the outside portion of the bridge as part of the project to widen and rehabilitate the bridges over the creek, Maryland State Highway Administration  District Community Liaison Heather Keels said in an email. A similar shift is scheduled to occur on the eastbound bridge at the end of September. 

* Traffic on Robinwood Drive has been shifted to the northbound side of the road with one lane in each direction between Medical Campus Road and Kings Crest Boulevard as part of Phase I of the Robinwood Drive Corridor Improvement Project. The shift is expected to remain in effect for several months.

*Also as part of the Robinwood Drive Corridor Improvement Project, the right turn ramp at Academic Boulevard is scheduled to close today for construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Robinwood Drive and Academic Boulevard, Washington County said in a news release.

* Speed cameras have been placed on I-70 at Conococheague Creek and I-70 at Md. 63 for work zone safety as part of bridge rehabilitation projects in those locations, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. Motorists driving more than 12 miles per hour over the posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour will face a $40 citation.

* Traffic is being shifted to the outer edges of the Interstate 70 bridges at Md. 63 as work crews begin demolition work on the inner sides of the bridges as part of the Maryland State Highway Administration project to reconstruct and widen them.
