James Arthur Wallace, loving son, brother and devoted husband, 62, of Hagerstown passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.

Born Nov. 20, 1950, in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of Dorothy Louise (Sillers) Wallace Steinmetz of Hagerstown and the late James A. Wallace. In addition to his father, he also was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank C. Steinmetz.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a master barber with Gentleman's Choice in Frederick.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Hagerstown.

Jim was a solitary soul, but his dry sense of humor and great timing brought much laughter.

In addition to his mother, Jim is also survived by his wife, Teresa R. (Fike) Wallace; two sisters, Nancy J. Shipe of Frederick and Kathleen A. Miller and husband, Bob, of Annapolis; two stepbrothers, John Steinmetz and wife, Gail, of Bowie, Md., and Michael Steinmetz of Frederick; many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Bandit.


Friends will  be received on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, from noon until 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.  Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven, with Monsignor Richard E. Cramblitt officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard.
