Suspicious package found near Hagerstown turns out to be harmless

A suspicious package that was found over the weekend on the front porch of a home near Hagerstown turned out to be harmless, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said.

The package was discovered shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday by an occupant of a home in the 18500 block of Manassas Drive, according to a fire marshal’s office news release.

Authorities said the package was X-rayed and determined to be nonexplosive.
