University Healthcare Physicians

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — University Healthcare Physicians, or UHP, recently welcomed longtime community pediatrician Dr. William Wear and the staff of University Pediatric Associates to its group of 19 medical practices in the Eastern Panhandle. 

University Pediatric Associates, formerly known as Eastern Panhandle Pediatrics, joined UHP in July when Dr. Edward Arnett retired. 

Wear is a board-certified pediatrician who’s been practicing medicine in Martinsburg since 2001. He is a graduate of the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Ala., and completed his pediatrics residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital Children’s Health Center in Phoenix. 

He also is an active member of the medical staff at University Healthcare’s Berkeley Medical Center and an assistant professor with the West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Eastern Division.

UHP also added another pediatrician, Dr. Adarsh R. Kancharla, to University Pediatric Associates and the medical staff of Berkeley Medical Center.

In addition to patient-care services, Kancharla will help train medical students and resident physicians as an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine’s Eastern Division.

Kancharla is a graduate of N.T.R. University of Health Sciences in Andhra Pradesh, India. He recently completed a pediatric residency at Marshfield Clinic, St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Marshfield, Wis., where he was the chief resident.

University Pediatric Associates is at 2000 Professional Court in Martinsburg.

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. — UHP recently welcomed Dr. Michelle M. Skinner to Harpers Ferry Family Medicine. 

Skinner also is part of the active medical staff at University Healthcare’s Jefferson Medical Center. In addition to patient-care services, Skinner will help train resident physicians and medical students as an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine’s Eastern Division.

Skinner is a graduate of Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, Calif. She recently completed a family medicine residency at Williamsport (Pa.) Family Medicine.

Harpers Ferry Family Medicine is at 171 Taylor St. in the Harpers Ferry/Bolivar, W.Va., area.

RANSON, W.Va. — UHP recently welcomed Dr. Jennifer B. White to University Primary Care Associates and the medical staff of University Healthcare’s Jefferson Medical Center. 

As an assistant professor for the West Virginia University School of Medicine’s Eastern Division, White will help train resident physicians and medical students.

White is a graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She recently completed a family medicine residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C.

University Primary Care Associates is at 203 East Fourth Ave. in Ranson, in the WVU medical office building across the street from Jefferson Medical Center.

FREDERICK, Md. — Sandy Sponaugle was named Public Relations Professional of the Year by the American Advertising Federation-Greater Frederick at the Maven Awards, which took place June 20 at the federation’s summer social at The Cellar Door Restaurant in Frederick.

Sponaugle is founder and chief executive officer of Platinum PR, a public relations firm with offices in Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Frederick. The awards recognize outstanding business professionals in advertising, marketing and related fields.

Winners demonstrate excellence in their positions and outside their professional career.

Sponaugle started Platinum PR more than 10 years ago. She serves as the marketing/communications department for local and national businesses and organizations. She is a marketing consultant, spokesperson, publicity expert, public speaker and public relations team leader. 

F&M Trust 

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Michele A. Williams recently joined F&M Trust as assistant community office manager at the Memorial Square office in downtown Chambersburg.

Williams has more than 14 years of experience in banking, and most recently served as a branch/sales manager at Sovereign Bank. 

In her new role at F&M Trust, she will be responsible for meeting the needs of consumers and businesses with the appropriate banking solutions to manage and grow their money. In addition, she will build, enhance and expand customer relationships through deposit services and lending.

A graduate of Grand Canyon University with a bachelor’s degree in business management, Williams has completed various banking courses offered by the American Bankers Association. 

In addition to serving on various committees at her church, she is actively involved in promoting autism awareness.
