Name of business: Special “Finds...”

Owner: Brenda Thompson

Address: 1206 Ragged Edge Road, Chambersburg, Pa.

Opening date: May 2013

Services: Unique real estate marketing

Target market: Unusual properties

How did you get into your business, and what motivated you to start it? Special “Finds...” evolved from an essential need to attract buyers for unusual, and sometimes difficult to sell, properties. Listing only unique real estate, the goal of Special “Finds...” is to make unique properties stand out from the crowd and not get lost in the sea of more typical listings. I use “emotional” advertising, poetic if you will, to attract the appropriate buyer. I pinpoint a property’s uniqueness, then create an “identity” and “image” for the property. The firm’s poetic ad-writing style “transports” buyers visually and mentally through listings from wherever they are.

Previous business experience: The firm had offices in Asheville and Hendersonville, N.C., from 1995 to 2008. In 2009, Special “Finds...” relocated to the Northeast, and opened  its doors in Chambersburg in May. Thompson, founder and former director of marketing for the New York Stock Exchange, applies her marketing expertise to each of her listings.
