Stonebreaker runs for 225 yards in Wildcats' loss

PREP FOOTBALL

ELDERSBURG, Md. — Jordan Stonebreaker rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries for Williamsport in the Wildcats’ 34-30 season-opening loss to Liberty on Friday night.

Williamsport led 6-0 at halftime, but Liberty rallied in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 28-14 in the third quarter to take a 28-20 lead.

Stonebreaker’s first TD came in the third on a 7-yard score and his second TD came in the fourth on a 17-yard score.

Williamsport’s Saavon Brown completed 14 of 22 passes for 151 yards and connected with Mannie Morris for a 20-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Brown ran for 127 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, and Morris finished with five catches for 56 yards and a TD.

Bakr Banire had seven tackles, three assisted tackles and four passes defended and Sinjin Shoop had seven unassisted tackles and two assisted tackles for the Wildcats.


PREP VOLLEYBALL

Clear Spring 3, St. James 0

ST. JAMES — Clear Spring opened its season with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-22 sweep of Saint James on Friday.

Jessica Long had 17 assists and nine service points, Kyleigh Stottlemyer and Jenna Smith had 10 kills each, Olivia Rowe had seven service points and 15 digs and Grace Ramacciotti had 15 digs and seven service points for the Blazers (1-0).

Sophie Abeles and Candice Yang had five digs each and Ellie Williams and Kim Wooster had five kills each for the Saints.

Heritage 3, Faith 0

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Chloe Prejean had 20 assists, 23 service points and eight aces to lead Heritage Academy to a 25-8, 25-1, 25-4 sweep of Faith Christian Academy in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference.

Ashton Hinnant had 14 kills and five blocks, Lizzy Kriner had four kills, Hannah Gaylor had 11 service points and three aces, Hannah Barnes had 10 service points and two aces, Christi Jackson had three kills, Nicole Gaylor had eight digs and Hannah Muller had seven service points and two aces for the Eagles (4-0, 3-0).

CVCS 3, Broadfording 0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Anna Bunting had nine kills, 17 service points and five aces to lead Cumberland Valley Christian School in a 25-15, 25-8, 25-20 sweep of Broadfording Christian Academy.

Karli Fogal had 23 assists, Laiton Suders had six kills and Katie Sugden had eight service points for the Blazers.

Kierra White had eight digs, two kills, three aces and nine service points, Sierra Hornick had three assists and two aces and Ayrika Gettel had two assists and two aces for the Lions (0-3, 0-3).

Keyser 3, Berkeley Springs 0

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Megan Newcomb had six kills and Devon Henry had 15 assists for the Indians in a 25-6, 25-9, 25-7 loss to Keyser on Thursday.

Caitlin Mills and Brandy Young added four kills each for Berkeley Springs.

JV: Keyser, 2-0.

Shalom 3, New Life 2

FREDERICK, Md. — Tori Yoder had 22 kills, 18 digs and three aces as Shalom Christian pulled out a 26-28, 25-14, 21-25, 26-24, 15-5 victory over New Life Christian in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference on Thursday.

Kristen Blank had 43 assists and five aces for the Flames.  Brooke Kuhns had 12 kills, Lexi Poe had eight kills and 16 digs, Brooke Poe had seven kills and Steph Bricker added five kills, 18 digs and four aces.

JV: Shalom, 2-0.


BOYS SOCCER

St. John’s 2, Saint James 1

ST. JAMES — Johnny Ludwick scored on a penalty kick for Saint James in a loss to St. John’s Catholic Prep.

Alex Wagner had four saves for the Saints (0-3).

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. — Drew Katrina had 17 saves for St. Maria Goretti (0-3) in the loss Thursday.
