Leroy Carson Cauffman, 83, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, with his loving wife of 58 years and his son by his side.
Born June 24, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son and the last surviving child of the late Arthur Cleveland and Jennie Elizabeth Nagle Cauffman.
He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He retired from Western Maryland/Chessie System Railroad after 29 years.
Leroy was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 695 in Waynesboro, Pa., and the Brotherhood of the Railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline Marie Kelbaugh Cauffman; a son, Robert Edward Cauffman and wife, Diane; a grandson, Tyler Edward Cauffman and girlfriend, Casey Lynn Davis; and loving dog, Pepe.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Archie Cauffman, Arthur Cauffman, James Cauffman, Charles Cauffman and John Cauffman; and four sisters, Julia Woodring, Martha Smith, Sarah Mills and Emma Breeden.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Steve Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
