Larry J. Cordell, 62, of McConnellsburg, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at his residence.

Born May 14, 1951, in Waynesboro, Pa., Larry was the son of the late J. Edward Cordell III and Katherine (Dewease) Cordell.

He was the husband of Nancy (Nesbitt) Cordell, whom he married in October 1991.

He was a member of McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and a Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir.

He served in the U.S. Army as a specialist fourth class in the Vietnam War, and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in November 2011 with 40 years of service.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, William Cordell (husband of Vanessa) of Chambersburg, Pa., Matthew Cordell (husband of Mindy) of Marion, Pa., and Paul Wilson (fiance of Nicole Shives) of McConnellsburg; daughter, Kelli Cordell (fiancee of Justin Miller) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister, Bonnie Yoder (wife of Linford) of Greencastle, Pa.; brothers, John (husband of Diane) of Greencastle, Garry (husband of Joyce) of Greencastle, Timothy (husband of Cheryl) of Greencastle, Daniel (husband of Barb) of Greencastle, Stephen (husband of Cindy) of Hagerstown, Md., and James (husband of Melinda) of Chambersburg; grandchildren, Kaleb Cordell, Madilynne Cordell, Colton Cordell and Mikaela Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A religious service will be Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 1 p.m. at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, with Pastor John Godissart officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg. There also will be visitation Saturday one hour before the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, New Building Fund, 121 North 2nd St., McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
