A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after the motorcycle he was driving hit a parked tractor-trailer Thursday morning on Frederick Street at Memorial Boulevard, Officer W. D. Oates of the Hagerstown Police Department said.

The accident happened at about 7 a.m. when a motorcyclist heading north on Frederick Street tried to go around a school bus that was turning left onto Memorial Boulevard, Oates said. The motorcycle hit the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked in front of the Salvation Army Thrift Store at 524 Frederick St., Oates said.

The school bus was gone by the time police arrived on the scene. Oates said the motorcyclist was taken to Meritus Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
